So the 3 times i have had to start my car from totally cold since i got done with my build, it has been a complete PITA, taking about 5 minutes. I was going to wait until i got tuned but i want to do soething about it asap! i was reading over on nasioc that you can use the cold startup enrichment values from a tgvless jdm ecu. but i cant seem to find those values anywhere... anyone have any ideas? I am thinking about swapping back to stock tgv's so i dont have to deal with this.
even with tgv deletes on cold start up, it should fire up, it'll have a rough idle you may have a leak somewhere check your pm
same thing tonight i really dont know what is going on. there are no leaks that i can tell of and i still cant get my clutch to bleed! these 2 issues are getting quite anoying!
my guess is this is the answer. typically is when doing an install of this measure. i've never had issues with cold starts with tgvs. Justin
I have been having some issues with cold starts as well. Just put in my TGV's about a month ago. However, I think for me the E85 might be making the cold start a little bit harder. Has never failed to start mind you, just been hesitant. Have you found out anything more about yours?
I've got my tgv's sitting on the workbench ready to be done and I'm trying to research the cold idle issue a little more. I couldn't find much of a definite answer on nasioc so I figured some of the mn guys must have an answer for me especially with the month we just had! So can someone describe the cold idle issue? First hand experience? How bad is it? I don't want to mess with it on my daily driver if its going to be really annoying in the winter... I'm only considering this because I just removed the intake manifold to fix my leaky fuel lines. And I don't want to have to remove the manifold again down the road. Also I'm gonna need someone with some tuning software to clear my cel from this if I do it... Anyone??
It just tough to start when it's cold if you're untuned for the tgvs. Takes a couple attempts to turn it over for me when I leave it outside on really cold nights. But I haven't been tuned for the engine swap and other bits yet. Hopefully this week or next.
My car seems to flood out every once in a while in the morning. If it acts like its going to start hard hold it it wide open untill it gets going.
I'm not sure there is any consensus on this issue. I did an 06 WRX recently with TGV deletes, and it ran well with the stock fuel enrichment mapping. No startup or rough idle issues at all. Jnorth, what MY and model car are we talking about here?
Ok. I haven't tested it, but I have a feeling that the 32bit ECU cars (all STIs and 06+ WRX) are able to handle the TGV deletes a little better then the 16bit ECU cars (02-05 WRX). If you're doing this yourself, you'll want to richen the closed loop (and possibly also the open loop) coolant temp fuel compenstation mapping.
It turned out for me, it was the tune, it was just way to lean at startup. now i have no issues with startup, even with the cold that we had.
I won't be doing it myself since I have no port cable or open source software knowledge. So I'll be looking for some help here when I get it back together. The first couple responses had me kinda scared away from doing it but both you guys seem like it isn't much of an issue. Who adjusted your fuel mapping for start up? Just wondering since they got yours to work they could probably do mine if theres an issue.
Hey i have almost the same problem, I have the TGV deletes and i am running E85, the car starts but the idle is very rough on when is 10 or below, at the moment i start driving the ck engine starts flashing and there is a lot backfire... Any ideas?
See flatlines (and basically all the other technical) posts above. You need to richen up the cold start fuel enrichment tables.
