This is a stretch but im looking for a scooter preferably a 50cc ruckus, metropolitan or vino, with a big bore kit/turbo. If you got anything along those lines lol.. pm me
Nice. I thought most turbos were on gy6's? I have not seen too many for sale that are modified. Plenty of stock ones. Try total ruckus.com if you haven't already. I have a stretched ruck with same simple mods.
@Medic_538 Looks great! This will be my next fun little project for the winter/spring. Gotta love a ruckus!
nice ride. ill buy it lol. yea the gy6 is ****, unlimited cheap mods. right now i have a tao tao with a racing cdi, racing carb, ignition coil, intake, (pair delete), fully unresctricted. i can do 50mph with the wind. its just so unreliable
I have been thinking seriously about a gy6 but you are correct, the reliability is an issue. I have thought about a 2t but not sure on that either. Maybe a 66cc bore would help.
I've go a big bore (70cc) Yamaha Zuma with exhaust and 18mm carb. I haven't had any luck tuning it so it hasn't run near it's full potential. 40mph tops. Bogs out anything past 3/4 throttle. I've tried an assortment of different jet sizes, trans roller weight combos, and no luck. Kinda gave up on it and just run it as is, but this thread makes me want to get it dialed in. All I really care about is acceleration to ~30mph and it does that well.
Have you tried tuning one (cvt) then the other (carb)? Are you running the main filter straight off the carb?
Yes, yes and yes lol I am by no means an expert 2 stroke tuner, but it's not exactly rocket science. I literally went from a 70 jet all the way to a 105 and nothing seemed to perform any better than the other, for the most part! I bought a case of new plugs and was checking them after each run...I don't remember, but I think I stuck with a ~86 jet as it was most happy here. This was like 3-4 years ago so I'm trying to recall all of this from memory. I also upgraded the variator to larger rollers. Would one tune carb first, maybe even with the belt off, and get that dialed in? Then move onto the CVT tuning? What's the best practice?
I did carb first and then the CVT. I am only a 50cc guy at the moment. Personally, the cvt should be done last. Once your able to run and run well through out your rpm range then you can mess with the CVT. I was told the way to tell if your lean or rich or in a good middle area, you start it up and let it get warm. Then goose the throttle. If it bogs down and then revs up, your rich. If it runs high right away and holds there for a couple seconds, then your lean. If it goes up and back down without hesitation, your in the middle. That is what I did once I changed my jets and I used this to adjust my A/F screw.
