all i have to say is wow. i cannot beleive it!!! :yumyum::yumyum::yumyum: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2180560
4:52 PM 9-9-2005 hahaha actually wtl3years! I heard they just took off the supercharger and ran a TT setup
F.A.T.'s supercharger/turbo kits are pretty cool. the supercharger works on a clutch system like a/c. they've made these systems work i saw some video somewhere, dont know if it was the stt'd sti or just a s/t'd one. none the less, its still pretty cool.
The clutch style supercharger is not new. All the Mercedes Kompressor superchargers are made that way. It would be interesting to see that work. There is a company that came out with a turbo kit for cobra mustangs that retains the factory supercharger. I guess it makes over 1K hp to the wheels. Compound Boost for the win.
Its still a lot of BS to get 600 some whp. One 40R with a properly designed setup can do that, without all the mess and cost. Don't forget how much weight is added by all that crap. It is a nice exercise in packaging and fabrication, but a serious waste of space. Cars always fare well with the K.I.S.S. theory. Keep it simple, stupid.
I look it as more of a marketing ploy. So, it didn't work so hot...but look at the publicity that F.A.T is getting...even 3 years after they did this!
Very true. I cannot deny that the guy can do a very nice job fabricating. Who's idea it was is another story. The customer may have wanted that, or it was one of those "Who cares how well it works, it will look sweet" kinds of things.
I recall reading that they got 35ish MPGs on the highway while driving the twin charged STi. I thought that was kind of neat.
35-40r in the right spot seems like it would make more sense after looking at what they want to make for power..... :dunno:
