UFC 102 is this weekend feturing two MMA legends Randy Couture and Antonio Nogeira. Also features one of my new favorites, MMA undefeated and 2 time Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World champ Damian Maia (This guy's jiu jitsu is silky smooth perfection). Make your picks! Couture vs Nogeira Keith Jardine vs Thiago Silva Chris Leben vs Jake Rosholt Nate Marquardt vs Damian Maia Brandon Vera vs Kryztof Soszynski My Picks- Couture by split decision Thiago Silva by submission late in the 2nd Rosholt by decision Damian Maia by submission in the 3rd Kryztof by ground and pound TKO in the early 2nd
Meh... the card this time around isn't all that great and definitely not worth the price payperview charges. Yes, I love Couture and all but I'm not excited about any of these fights =(
hmmmmm Couture vs Nogeira Keith Jardine vs Thiago Silva Chris Leben vs Jake Rosholt Nate Marquardt vs Damian Maia Brandon Vera vs Kryztof Soszynski same choices as you Goalie looking at teh names.. but not as much detail...
I agree with Chewy on this one, I am not all that excited for 102. Those two guys are kind of washed. I am excited to see Jardine though. The Marquardt v. Maia fight will be awesome though. Couture vs Nogeira Keith Jardine vs Thiago Silva Chris Leben vs Jake Rosholt Nate Marquardt vs Damian Maia Brandon Vera vs Kryztof Soszynski
a side note for us fargo guys: Chris tuchserer a local fighter and a friend of mine is fighting gabriel gonzaga as an undercard. I guess that since both of them are a little pudgy dana white undercarded it.
i am going with couture - decision because all hes goin to do is lean on nogeira jardine - decision... silva is good but jardine's style has a way of messing with people leben - tko nate the great - decision vera - tko... fight of the night right there i think
Gonzaga is super inconsistent, either great or really bad. Hopefully your friend catches him on a bad night, or even better tops him on a good night. I will be cheering for Chris as I watch the play by play blog.
Well since everyone is voting... I might as well throw my votes in too: Couture vs Nogeira - Couture is always good bet Keith Jardine vs Thiago Silva - I'm rooting for Jardine on this one. He seems to have a pretty good take down defense on top of some crazy wierd punches. Chris Leben vs Jake Rosholt - Leben will only win if he gets lucky and lands a wild swing. Nate Marquardt vs Damian Maia - Maia is pretty badass Brandon Vera vs Kryztof Soszynski - For some reason I'm rooting for this guy. ???
I'm with Jason on Jardine.. that lurky jerky style gets his opponents dizzy or something. also i would love to see nogiera come out to the song "lean on me". just for randy.
chris is incredibly consistent and since he's been training with Brock he's only gotten better. He has a head like a rock, good submissions/submission defense and great wrestling. A few years ago in a YAMMA tournement he took Travis Wiuff to decision, and resently beat brandon lee hinkle badly. I have great hopes for him, if he wins/puts on a good show he's looking at a 4 fight contract. He is also a hell of a guy.
Bah! i will laugh at toasters everywhere as krystof imposes his ground and pound upon Brandon Vera! There will be no Hawaiian dancing on Saturday.
I is confused.. Vanderlai SIlva is fighting now.... I must be on a different fight or a replay stream ah ah but hague and duffee just fought and they are on teh card...
Wow did I ever this card wrong. Nog out points Randy (got it wrong) Silva wins by KO (Got it right) Leben gets choked unconscious. He was asleep, tight arm triangle (got it right) Maia gets KO'd (Got it very wrong) 21 seconds into the 1st. Vera beats Krystof (got it wrong and eating crow on this one)Very boring fight btw Unfortunately Colin's friend Chris lost his bout against Gonzaga, after Gonzaga landed a low blow.
If any of you fools lived up in fargo area I would always host. I'm so sick of having to watch fights in bars. And yeah about my friend chris's fight. Holy crotch kick... He didn't even look like himself after that. I'm waiting on reports of what condition he's in.
Yeah, that head kick came right after the low blow. It's very obvious it affected him. hopefully he can rebound and get a win streak going.
I just hope that wasn't his one-and-only shot. He pretty much put his whole life on the line to try to "make it" fighting. He sold all his hobby stuff (including a full sprint car setup etc) quite his job,etc etc etc, and his 4 fight contract is conditional on his performance.... So now it's basically up to the marketing team at UFC to keep him there.
