Well everyone, I have left Minnesota to work in Portland, Oregon. I will be selling wine for Bacchus Distributing, owned/operated by Willamette Valley Vineyards. I sincerely wish that I was able to spend more time with you before I took this position, but I did not receive much notice that I would get this opportunity. I am taking over a well established territory in the Portland area. The person who's position I'm filling only gave two weeks notice, so I have been spending this week with her learning the territory and accounts. I had hoped for some time to receive a job offer from this company, but I had no idea it would come this soon or that I would have to leave all of you so suddenly. I am currently staying with family on a beautiful vineyard in the hills west of Portland. My wife, Meghan, will be joining me in the coming months, most likely at the end of May. She is a personal trainer and shouldn't have too much trouble starting her own business again out here. I have enjoyed talking with and driving with all of you and hope that you have enjoyed it as well. I would like to extend an offer to you: that if you can come visit Oregon's beautiful wine country I will be happy to help plan your visit and make sure your time spent here is a well worth the effort. I know well Portland's best restaurants and pubs, wineries and breweries, scenic areas and tourist destinations. Please stay in touch and don't forget to look me up when you're ready to visit the Rose City and the beautiful countryside around it. I will likely continue to check in on things - especially RallyCross results - from time to time. I especially wish I was able to finish out this year's RallyCross schedule! I'm sure they're be some good races out here. I'm also sure many of you will be glad you won't have to compete with me this year in the RX results!!!!
Congrats on the move, from what little I've gotent to see of Portland, it's a beautiful place. I wish you the best of luck, and if we go back any time soon we'll be sure to look you up!
Congrats on the new job! You'll love the West Coast, there's a part of me that wishes I'd never left Seattle. Just don't make the same mistake I did and try to pump your own gas. They don't like that
Congrats on the job, good luck and send me some free drank, you got any King Cobra or Old English?:yumyum:
no old english....but I gots lotsa lotsa Deschutes Brewery Black Butte Porter.......:yumyum: I love black butts. I mean Black Butte.
Hey! Me too! Deschutes was one of the better breweries we had a chance to visit. Their whole selection is really good.:yumyum:
So I went to their second RallyX of the season. My thoughts/observations: 1. They use the SCCA rules exactly 2. They DONT use radios - VERY STUPID. They hold up the cone or a flag and hope timing sees them waving it in the air. 3. The course is LONG. Turbo's may have an advantage in some areas. 4. WAY more cars/competitors. Like double or triple. 5. They run some run groups in the morning (w/their own tech and registration), then the rest in the afternoon (again, w/own tech/reg). This is nice b/c then you don't have to be there all day. They can do this b/c of the sheer numbers of competitors and volunteers to work the course. 6. They run the course the opposite direction in the afternoon. 7. Anyone can come out and do "Time Only" runs - even if you're competing in the later events or after you've competed in the morning. 8. It's only $35/competitor, $5 weekend SCCA membership. 9. Most importantly, only a few of them drive as well/quickly as i do. I'm gonna dominate out here. Thanks for all the lessons and advice, everyone!
I really don't think this guy is going to respond, he's been gone for a year and hasn't visited this site since 5/26/09.
