So I come out to my car after hanging out with some friends to find out that someone decided that my car would look better with one less window. Luckily they didn't steal anything ( though there wasn't much to steal). Anyway, If anyone knows of any way to help me out, point me in the right direction, or would be willing to help me install a new window for some beers and thank yous that would be awesome. IT is for a 04 WRX wagon: Passenger side front Thanks in advance, Chris
I could help you, let me ask at work if we can get a decently priced window and there is a tint shop down the street as well .
If you can do the research to find out if it will work, i have front passenger glass out of an 03 wagon. Will let it go on the cheap.
Awesome. Let me know what you find out. I'll see what I can figure out. That would be great if it fit!
Let me know. It's wrapped in cardboard in the garage and not going anywhere. Pretty sure that it will fit.
@tangledupinblu So there are two Ebay listing for 02-07 Front Passenger Side windows.... that sounds promising. Where are you located and how much would you want for it? Man that would be a life saver if it fit!
Maybe this will help. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8Nawrcpwo37eWtPWENTc0xQOVE/edit?usp=docslist_api
It's actually a lot easier than that makes it out to be. You'll need a screw driver, and a 10mm socket, extension, and ratchet. Should take less than a half hour to replace. Good luck!
Man, you guys are the best. I was just getting ready to scour the depths of the internet to find that. Many Thanks.
Hardest part is getting all the glass out of the door! What an ass hole, just breaking random people windows.
Edit: 3 1/2 hrs with glass removal. Lol I had broken glass bits in the rear deck lid/window! It sucked. And glass fell out of my door for months every time that i'd close it. And that was after vac'ing for hours!
Definitely an asshole...as I was cleaning the largest chunks out of the car when some guy walked by and told me he saw a GTI with the same thing happen a couple blocks down. Charma will hopefully catch up to that guy.
It happened in uptown next to that place that used to be Old Chicago. :/ That would be greatly appreciated seeing that I'd probably turn a 1/2 hours job into a 8 hours job. I may try to do it this evening if i can get the glass from @tangledupinblu. The random guy that told me about the GTI with the broken window as well also told me about that site. Thanks for the co-sign, hopefully I won't need it but its nice to know there is a back up plan.
Do you live in uptown? Im in Bloomington, so I'm close. I'll totally help you out if you get in bind. Just let me know.
Awesome, I'll give it the ol'e freshman try and if its too much for me i'll PM you. I live in southeast MPLS off of Hiawatha. Appreciate the offer! If you do end up coming through i'll make sure theres some beers with your name on it
That was too easy, next question Alex. I've seen more broken glass from car windows on the streets in Uptown, than anywhere else in this city. Plus, he wears Skinny jeans, so where else would he be hanging out?
Alright, thanks to @tangledupinblu I have a new window. Now the hard part...installing it. Welp, here goes nothing...
Alright, so i got the door card off and i'm cruising.... amd then it comes to getting this SOB off.... PDF says to use the power switch to move it to an access hole but along its entire movement there isn't a hole as its sitting directly behind the door lever... any thoughts? Lastly, How do you get this window hardware off? There's the four hole on this side and a flat round screw on the other...
I'm stumped. I can't figure out how to get the front glass mount off or into a position where i can get it off. Anyone know of any videos on taking out door glass? I couldn't find any.
Hmmm. I don't recall there 'not' being a hole to access the nut when the window is down. If i had time to come out there, i would!!
I had to pull a legacy window the other day, Had no clue what I doing. By the end of the weekend, I hope to be a window master!
To me that looks like something that I'd use a Pin Spanner Wrench on, like this: http://www.harborfreight.com/adjustable-pin-wrench-36554.html You might be able to kludge one up from some thick wire if you have that around, or for a one-time use like this maybe find a piece of flat bar, (or even wood?) drill two holes in it the right distance across, drop some bolts of appropriate diameter through the holes and put a nut on the far side of each - instant custom-sized pin wrench
lol if I wasn't on MNsubaru I'd still be staring at a broken window! So final report: the window is in and working as it should! Thanks again to @tangledupinblu for getting me the window so fast and @Sjogun for driving out to help me out. I definitely owe you guys a beer or two! Now I can finally go vacuum out all the glass and wash my car. Thanks you everyone for the help and suggestions.
