After hearing the good news about my tax return I think I'm gonna be getting one. Just curious if anyone else is running one in MN and if they are happy with it?

Actually, there are quite a few of them around. I have one, Zola is running one, and a bunch of others that don't post on a regular basis. I have heard that the new software update for the utec are really going to make fuel changes and stuff alot better (I heard a fuel scaling system like the ecuteck). I think that it is worth every penny.

Yeah I can't wait for the new firmware. It seems like it's been "any week now" forever. Let either of us know if you want some tips getting started with it.

    Thanks for the replies.

I think I will be rocking the base maps for awhile until I get used to using the UTEC.

I have a wide band o2 that we can also use for tuning, so don't worry about it. I have a pretty good stage 2.5 map (uppipe, catless tbe, samco hoses, couple of extra things). We can get ya going pretty good till the dyno shows up.

Just a thought...you might want to look for a used one. If you have a MY02 WRX, it doesn't matter if you get the latest revision or not, they can all be updated with the current firmware. Buying used will save you a couple hundred, and it's extremely unlikely that anything would be wrong with it...they aren't wear items, they just sit there.

I can understand wanting to buy a new one though if you go that route.

Let us know when you pick one up. I am going to reflash the firmware in my wbo2 this weekend so I can start using some of the new software features, and any time after that, if you want to use it, let me know.

Sounds good guys. Thanks for the help! :D

Actually, I was thinking about picking one up from Garret @ worldone cause he's got some really good prices going on. If you buy it used I dont think you get TXS's year warranty and if I'm spending this kinda $ I'd be pissed if it fried or something. IDK though.. I'll look around. I imagine you guys are also using the remote map switch right?

Yep, that makes things real easy. If you don't use the remote switch, you need to pull back the carpet and remove the cover every time you want to switch maps.

I don't have a remote switch. For the moment all I have is a summer map and a winter map.

A used utec is sooo tempting now. Then I could buy more things with the saved money...

Are any of the revisions better than others? btw it's a my02

Honestly, if you have a MY02 car, it doesn't matter what revision you get. All that's really different is the location of the DIP switches. What matters is the firmware, and you can reflash that to the latest version.
