Never had a radar detector in mn and ive been up here for about 2 years now. Only gotten one ticket on 52.

Do cops around here still use radar? Or have most of them switched to lidar or laser?

Valentine1 detects everything. Yes, it's worth it.

V1 is not the only decent option though
9500i, 8500 x50, Bel STi driver all have advantages dpeending on what you want

And yes, they are. Just don't think they're cop detectors. The only way it will help you with a laser ticket (or pace or airplane) is shear luck.
Dpets are moving to laser when they can because judges ****ing love laser.

I use a 9500i and am very happy with it. The GPS is worth it and helps keep the detector very quiet.

Check laws about hanging things from the window. If the cop wants to ****w ith you, he can.

Scanners are also useful, but its a crime to have one without a ham license (or other exception). And no one gets a deal for this if caught.

I went with the v1 because it shows where the signal is. Whether it's ahead, behind or beside you, it tells you. This is FTW!
Still rated the number 1 detecter says Car and Driver magazine. Doesn't mean anything... or does it?!

Speed sensitive filter is where its at.
No falses in mall parking lots FTMFW.
Don't feel the need for the arrows, it's pretty easy to tell from signal strength anyhow.

The arrows are extremely helpful. I get full signal from front or rear and the arrows are money.

Yes, laser pretty much screws the pooch. There have been a few times where they are hitting the person in front of me and it goes nuts for a second, then they hit me and it really goes off the wall.

The new Passport came out two months after I bought the V1. I dunno if I would have sprung for the 9500 though.

A V1 and the M20 Extreme and you're set. Who says that the law is right? It was made up by men to control the masses. Chaos is constant. Listen to your id. :)

What would a cop do if you jammed them, since it is very illegal in this state?

Maybe readymix can get a "obsolete" jammer from the Navy. Something strong enough to fry a cop car.

Cite you and seize the jammer.
If it's built into the car, he might take that, at least for a while, until they figure out how to get the jammer out.
Either way, they're keeping the jammer.
    That's for laser.
He'd probably do the same for radar and just cite you under state statute. However, a prosecutor who's paying attention may refer it to FCC.
State statute it's only a petty, but pros will ask for full fine $300 and surcharges, so it will be 3x or more the cost of a speeding ticket (speed fines are actually pretty low normally under $100, it's the fees that get you).
I don't know what the federal one is, but I assume it's pretty serious as interfering with a lawful radio signal is just about a bad as it gets with the FCC.

    I have had the

    8500 x50...liked it..then sold it
    i9500..GPS feature liked...Ka reception..not as good at the 8500..sold the 9500
V1 love it!! FTMFW...just wish it had gps, Ka picks up is awesome, recommend V1
    having owned all three.

Jamers for some reason falls under FDA for laser jammers and they are legal in some states.
Radar jamming ie K,Ka,X is illegal all states falls under FCC

Google the guys of lidar they have a great site.

I don't think the V1 can pick up the lidar.

It "can", just like the 9500 and 8500.
    Hint:
For radar tickets (always on Ka and maybe a bit of K), I've never seen a person get a ticket with a V1 or high end belscort (and yes, I ask).
For laser tickets, they all get busted.

Yep. I thought the V1 was hot **** till my buddie was pulled over by a LEO using laser. The x bands are not used in MN anymore. I love how my V1 point the LEO out too. I haven't gotten a ticket yet and I dont even have a working Speedometer LOL. knock on wood.
