Well, my STi came from Vegas and has never seen snow (to my knowledge), so I though I would break it in right. Here's some pics for you to enjoy.. At the ski hill: After a hard day's work: Quote from my neighbor (who's Jetta got stuck in a couple inches of snow): "Why doesn't your car get stuck?" "AWD + Snow Tires"
an awd car "never seen snow" is like hey lets put this on a trailer and take it and put it in my garage!
I don't understand all the drivers out there who doesn't own a Subaru or an AWD car in general. Most of our weather in MN is ****ty weather. But we live here because we don't have to deal with Hurricanes, Earthquakes, and mudslides. If Subaru made a mini van, I would own one. Next best thing is my Odyssey.
oh boy, you're about to open a can of worms! haha jk. After owning a couple subarus (one with snow tires, one without) and still driving a FWD car with all seasons, I'll say that the FWD with all seasons is just fine in Minnesota (I even ventured up to the UP of Michigan in a blizzard and was fine). Sure, getting around with AWD and snow tires is awesome when we have a big storm, but I can still get around ok with FWD when I need to. Also, the snow is usually cleared pretty quickly. The people that I don't understand are the ones that drive around on bald tires and cause an issue for themselves and others. AWD: Necessity? No. Convenient (and fun)? Hell yea! If you want a minivan...perhaps you haven't heard of the Tribeca. Almost as much room and just as ugly as a mini van!
I just get tired of waiting for FWD cars spinning and not going anywhere when I am behind them at a stoplight NAW MEAN!
^+1 saw at least 7 cars doing just that. Then as I pass them in the other lane laugh because of the panicked look they have as they have their foot pinned to the floor spinning like mad and people are honking at them.
^ Got to do that for the first time yesterday. Watched a Grand Am try to leave a parking lot that had a slight incline to get out back up and get a run at it 3 times. Couldn't help but smile and wave as I slowly drove up the hill, passed him on the left, and exited, all like it was dry pavement.
Like most people are saying. I don't want to ever be the one holding up traffic. And most of all. I don't want to be the one people are laughing at while they are driving by. Took me 1.5hr to get home from work which usually takes 20 mins. The cars holding up the traffic on 280 was the cars that got stuck going up a small incline. I wanted to get out and help but then I would of been part of the problem of cars on the side of the road.
Pretty car. Just so you are ALL fully aware... not all Subarus are AWD... some are 4WD dual range like the G Wagon... And I'm gonna say, Ethel gets around just fine even with crappy all seasons... HEYO!.. Although, I do need to pick up a set of winter tires... anybody got anything lying around in a 13"? Lol.
