I wonder how many art lovers are out there. Well I got this from Porsche Club of America. Enjoy!

No self-respecting, scrape knuckled, do it yourself car enthusiast will deny that perfectly tuned multiple carburetors or a masterfully created wiring harness is not an art form. In this culture the people that can do these things are often given names of homage, revering these artists who do this sort of "laying on of hands" with cars. Maestro, Wizard and Guru to mention a few are all terms of endearment and show well-deserved respect. There are also similar artists who have the same love for things automotive, these are called Fine Artists and their tools are brushes, tubes of paint, clay and cast bronze along with silvered paper and liquid emulsions. They are painters, sculptors and photographers. Men and women that have reached into themselves and found just the emotional moment that speaks to all automotive enthusiasts. This could be just the right reflection painted into a vintage 356 fender or the moment a mechanic frees a seized cylinder from a monster Ferrari engine cast from molten bronze into a solid mass or an intimate moment of tragedy captured in the face of a racing legend. It makes you wish you could step into the work and be a part of the moment. Now you can, for a short amount of time, do just that. From late June to early August 2008 at the Hopkins Center for the Arts a very special exhibit is planned. Velocity: The Art of Motion, will showcase 50 automotive fine artists from all over the world. England, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Russia and the United States. Several, in fact are from the upper Midwest region. Many will ship more than one piece of artwork to share with all who come to Velocity. Most will be for sale. The exhibit from June 28 through August 3, 2008 is free to the public. There are also more notable events during this exhibit.

The Velocity show is likely the largest of its kind in the world to date. Never before have this many automotive artists been invited to exhibit anywhere and definitely not here in the upper Midwest. Mike Jekot personally invites all who read this to this free exhibit next summer. Come more than once as there are a number of first class events planned during the shows run. [IMG]
