I'm pretty sure the ver 6 cluster will only directly plug into a 00-01. I'm not sure about the L, but I don't think it would matter. Good luck with everything.

I know the fitment will work perfectly but i don't know if it will be compatible. As far as i know my gauge cluster is mechanical and not digital. I want to convert my cluster into digital. I've seen the JDM Ver6 clusters on 1998 RS's with a few wires that needed to be rewired. Also they are complete bolt ons on 00-01 RS's.

If anyone has any advice on installing this on the pre 97's PLEASE let me know!

they make converters that will convert the speddo cable signal form KPH to MPH. might want one of those or else learn the metric system well

Waste of time to convert it, study the oem stock cluster and you got the hang of it

I have the wrx one with the 7500 rpm tach. I just wrote down a cheat sheet for the kph to mph conversion and eventually memorized it. Or you could just remember that for every 5 mph there's 8 kph. So 50 is 80, 55 is 88 and so on :D

i don't care about changing metric to u.s. units. that's why i'm an engineer. i just want to know if it'll work for my 97 L wagon.

unfortunately, unless you do some crazy wiring, probably not.
