Hey all, Click this, and then come back and read below. In my search for some new wall decorations for my office, I came across an EXTREMELY cool calendar for an even better cause... I don't know if many or any of you were privileged enough to have ever met Jake Himes, but he was probably one of the nicest, funniest, craziest guys that I have ever met. He ALWAYS had a smirk on his face, and made everyone around him laugh with his dry, yooper sense of humor. He drove the wheels off of his rally car. Sadly, he passed away not too long ago- and is survived by his wife Danielle, children Lydia, Miles, Avery, and Mia (Miles & Avery are twins & 6ys old). He was 33. Check out the link below which will cycle you through the art for all of the months of the year -the photography by Loren Trezise is absolutely AWESOME!!! I just E-mailed Lorne to see if there is a hosted picture of the cover anywhere, so hopefully I will add that soon. The calendar is 22"x17" (each image is 11"x17"). All proceeds beyond production costs, will go to the family of Jake Himes ($10.00+ per calendar to the family). Each Calendar is $29.98 plus $5.00 for shipping. I think GRM had an obit for him this month. I never knew him, but 33 is way too young to check out, especially with a young family. Stuart.
Jake was a shining example of the true spirit of rally and autosports in general. He was always pushing whatever he drove to the absolute limit and getting results that shocked most rally veterans. He was also a prankster. One funny story is from the 100 Acre Wood Rally in Salem MO. He and his brother were walking past a mini mall and passed a store like a Curves For Women. There was an exercise class going on at the time. Jake busted through the door, and ran though the group of middle aged mommies and tackled a self defense training dummy In the opposite corner of the room. He then stood up, stood the dummy up and ran out of the room, through the mommies. Later, when asked why he did it, he just grinned and shrugged his shoulders. By purchasing a calendar, you are supporting that fun loving spirit in his wife and young children. Mark Utecht
Jake was a great guy. One of the most remarkable people I've ever had the privilege to know. Helping out his family is good. Getting a cool rally calendar on top of it is just icing.
