I'm looking to spend about $800 or so on a new video camera or jsut a nice camera. But i know nothing about them or where to find the best deals. So what i want is like 3 camera in that price range and 3 video camera in that price range. Or more if you have more. Just let me know what you like and why. I am going to be using the camera for every kind of shot. Video camera i want to work at night as well. Also on just the camera let me know if they can take video as well and how does it look... Thats it for now...just getting ideas. will ask more questions later
I'd say if you're looking at spending that much money and you're looking for still images, in the best possible quality, get a dslr. But then you can't take video with it. If you want to be able to do both, most options are going to be a compromise to both. I'd say narrow down what you want (better vid quality or better pic quality) and that will help people make recomendations. If you're just going to be posting stuff to youtube, etc. Vid quality probably isn't that big a deal and you could get away with spending $400-600 on a nice point and shoot (that doesn't have a vid length limit) and be better off.
well i guess im looking for a good video camera and a good still camera, like a dslr...then when i am ready to buy i will choose if i want the video camera or a still camera...just getting ideas for now on what people like vs. dislike
go still... how often do you go back and watch all your movies.. I have abotu 10dvcd tapes that I filmed when I went to Australia last time... ripped them all to files, and have watched 1 or 2 of them int eh last 4 yrs... still ahev the files... For me pics are better as having kids you can snap away, delete, keep etc... I barely have any vids of my 2 youngest... my Oldest I have a ton of video and photos, but never look at either, but with 3 under 3 I dont have as much time just to be taking pics... so it all comes down to what you see the use of the files pics or vids, is going to be.... cant go wrong with a digital slr
or xti.... I have the XT Bill has an XTi.... both are good entry level dslr.... you can also get some good cheaper ones to like minolta etc
I agree with Nathan. Digital SLR. Get a good enough one and the resolution is actually BETTER than a film. Much easier to touch-up/edit, too. I hate film cameras. Digital will never fade, and much easier to store. I still laugh at my mom and her fifty books of photos, piled on top of SHOEBOXES of even more.
I bought a panasonic gs300 for my camcorder, Can't get a better video camera for the price. Pm discopope, he can help you too
