Hey what's up everyone. So i'm here in winona for two weeks for training for work (fastenal) and just thought i'd see if anyone around knows of something fun to do. I know there's some bars and what not, and we went out to Bub's last night for the super bowl which was fun. Just thought i'd get some local opinion of what to do and where to go.

You should come to the Firestone meet on Friday - people there will probably go elsewhere afterword, and you will probably be invited to tag along. (for example, my first night, we all went across the street for chinese food) I am sure there are plenty of bar-hoppers here who can point you in the right direction, as well, if that is what you're into. :)

Where is the firestone meet? I'm stayin in the east manor apartments on E Belleville by wal mart. I don't have a vehicle at my disposal, just the work van and can't really take it for non business stuff unfortunately. Plus it's not near as cool as my subaru.

Welcome out to the Midwest :)

What part of Seattle are you from? I lived off Lake City Way behind ****s Burgers for over a year. Still miss that city. You won't see as many Subarus out here as back in the NW. Especially the older ones, those have mostly rusted into oblivion. Every time I go back it still throws me to see a Loyale running around rust free.

I live actually north of seattle near everett where boeing is at. Yeah, winona pretty much sucks. We're headed out to Zuzu's (sp?) and Bub's tonight to get outta the apartment. Yeah, not so sure about a 2 hour drive for a subie meet when i don't have a car. A bunch of people are going to rent a car over the weekend to head up there, probably check out the mall. Anything else we should do?

Yea bubs is about the only decent food joint. There is another one by the river Jeffersons. Couple of fukalloser bars with an underage college drunkfest crowd that listens to anything from top 10 from 3 months ago to 'Brown Eyed girl" and Shania Twain..if thats ur thing(UGH)!!!
The winona sub/sandwich co. is ok for lunch too.

Fastenal is a tool of a company.
Bob Kier-mymailordersouthamericanwifedrivesaS500benz-line is a retard, although his daughters used to be hot but that was a while ago.
Freakinsmalltownhicksville winona MN sucks. i went to college there and wont go back unless to visit an old friend once a year.
Dont forget to visit the local landmark - garvin heights (yawn) and the oooh so special winona Mall ha ha!!

Wow, sounds like you really love it here. Honestly though, Fastenal is a great company to work for. I don't work for Bob Kierlin, so i could care less what kind of car his wife drives or if she's from mars. I get a fair salary, and a pretty decent commission check every month. So i can't complain. We ended up at Gabby's last night and the drinks were cheap, i got pretty loaded for $20. So i'll make the most of the week i have left here, since i don't have much of a choice.

I wub minneapolis (minus the weather and the pretentious Bimmer driving 'me 2' crowd) with all its good friendly people, fun things to do, variety in food, great music scene and relatively safe suburbs.

I just cant stand small town Winona. A few of my friends worked at Fastenal and they constantly complained on their lousy salary w/o much annual increase. These are professional techies BTW. I cant comment on sales. My friends hv moved to TC since and couldn't be happier

Do check out jeffersons if u gt a chance.Enjoy ur stay in Winona.

Winona's not the prettiest place. :p I have a friend who lives there. If you want to drive around on a nice, windy road, head up to the look-out at the top of the little cliff they got. It's not exactly safe with winter being here and all, but it's something twisty to run up and down instead of putzing around town.

Otherwise, there's not a lot to do :( Maybe head to the campus and hit on chicks.

Rochester's an hour west, bigger but no night life. The Cities are a couple hours north-west. You've got a couple state parks south along the Mississippi and LaCrosse a wee bit further down.
