as douchy as its going to sound... i just dont see where shadow is the idea behind those two... when are the rules going to change to where the photo needs to taken after the new topic is anounced? searching through old photos shouldnt be allowed anymore cuz then its not really a competition for who can take the better photo for the given topic. as im sure people are just digging through old shots
I kinda agree... it's more back lighting than shadows... sorry I also kind of dug through an old photo, so I'm just as guilty for that, but the major part of my photo is shadows
next months photo submissions should need to be new photos. taken with the competition topic in mind. and i really urge people to try something different. experiment with ideas that arent just snapshots. it doesnt take lots of money to make something creative. but i guess this is just a car forum and there are only a few of us who can point out an outstanding shot or see skill in some photos/pp'ing. so even voting is pretty gray when it comes to reasons for why people voted for what photo. understanding the topic is key. if you see the topic and dig through files of snapshots to find nothing but something that makes you say "i guess that might have something to do with (said topic)" dont just enter it for giggles. try. thats how you get better. shoot something. if it looks like you could do better. make the effort to try harder.
The reason it is set up like it currently in is to make it easier for more people to submit entries and get more people to compete so it isnt just 1 or 2 people submitting pictures every month. Although now there are probably enough people entering where we could change this rule. If/when we do change this I think that we should require the date the picture was taken in addition to a photo title. Back on topic: only a couple days left, make sure and vote!
I admit it... I did dig through old photos LOL. I do have some that would fit well with the topic but are none car related. Being it's back lighting with a decent silhouette plus a very curvy shadow but those are NSFW so I won't post those.
this isnt a car related competition..... you dont need to have photos of cars for this. its a photo comp. not a car photo comp.
True... cause if you look at all of them... none are shadow concentrated LOL Oh well... it's the spare of the moment things for all of the posters. Next month's photo contest will be interesting. That's a guarantee!
mine was shot with shadows. probably the only one using the topic as criteria. i had to focus my light at a certain angle to create the shadows over my face. im coming out from the darkness of the shadows

Sorry kids. I was in CA for work last week and am absolutely swamped at work and my boss is busting my b@lls... The contest is set up to get as many people as possible involved which is why digging thru old pictures is allowed. How about next month we change it to pictures taken durring photo contest dates, but this will have to be a suggestion because it's impossible to inforce.
