    Today,
another incident of with my first subaru impreza wrx sedan.
I got pulled over because of my loud performance muffler.
I talked to my brother in law about a muffler swap and he said i'll be taking a performance hit by installiing the stock muffler.
Any suggestions for a nice quiet replacement
SUBARU WRX 2002 muffler that runs quiet enough so that I won't be pulleed over by harassing police in st.paul.
    YOUCH.

    thanks

I was wondering the same thing also...and don't wanna go through what you did/are.
Don't wanna spend over $1k for a turboback and then have to give it up for something quieter (legal) later.
I think Greddy says their db levels are 50 state legal or something like that, but I'm not sure they make a full turbo-back.

What muffler were you using, and did you get pulled over entirely for the muffler?

Cobb Tuning makes aweXome products. I have the cobb TBE which sounds/looks/ and performs great without the "holy crap, now that's what I call a ricer sound" loud ass exhaust.

you could probly find one used on ebay or craigs. I got my TBE on ebay for about $800.

    just my .02

What setup are you running that the stock axleback would be a performance hit? Unless you're running stage 3+, it's not going to be a factor. What are you running right now? I'd look for a Prodrive or Magnaflow axleback, those are probably two of the quieter options out there, also the Borla Hush that's already been mentioned. Cobb and ScoobySport are two more good choices.

What do you have on there? For the right exhaust I may be willing to trade I have a cobb cbe which is too quiet for my liking.

Cobb is pretty quite, but if you have / plan on getting a 3"+ DP it will get louder.

WRXBoy can whip up a nice magnaflow setup which is very reasonable in the Db levels.

It's a loud exhaust, the loudest a subaru wrx with a full turbo back can go.
i'll ask fuji_k to give you the full details.

The STi exhaust is a nice alternative also. But for the price, you'd probably be better off with an SPT or Borla hush. My .02
