Alright everyone I need some help finding a video showing a WRX beating a VW!! My friend sent me a video from www.youtube.com showing a VR6 Turbo Jetta with quite a few Mod's done smoking a WRX STI with some entry level Mod's done. PLEASE HELP, THIS IS ABOUT PRIDE!!!
yeah just tell him about the difference in mods and money spent. and how if the VRT has over like 300 hp its gonna blow up as a DD
Which video was it? I found one on the site, but it looks more like the the dude is watching the VW go by on the freeway, not racing...
Well hell, I should hope that car beats a STI with "misc" mods for the amount of work they put into it. It should be beating a lot of cars with "misc" mods. But unless your friend owns that car, he should be bragging. None the less I'll keep my eye out for a video in Subaru's favor...

the reason why you don't see any "wrx beats vw" is because it's just so common that we don't bother to film it

Okay......All comments received, excepted and understood....The point being here is that my friend finally found a video that shows a VW beating a Suby and that makes him happy because the other day I smoked him in a race with my stock '06' WRX against his Jetta 1.8T that has a few upgrades done. It's half joking and half serious shizznit. You all know how it goes. I thought that this would be the best place to go to find a video cause I know there's some Quick Suby's in the Twin Cities.......

I love how in the video "gives the STi the dig." Where? It was still racing from a roll...which isn't real racing. It actually takes skill to launch a car. No doubt the Jetta would have beat the STi anyways, but with a GT40 I would hope so.
my opinion WHO fricken cares... (no offense to original poster - I mean whether another car beats a Subaru) there is always gonna be someone faster regardless of what you drive... its apples to apples... and take those same cars onto a track.... or in the snow.... or in a rally course.... I think their are some nice VW's but overall I think the subaru is more of a complete car....
That was probably the stupidest video I've seen on youtube. STi w/ bolt-ons? Why don't you fill us in on the 'bolt-ons'...probably a downpipe and catback. "We gave him 3 carlenghts and the dig just to be fair" Looked like 1 carlength from a roll to me. Hopefully all VW owners aren't this f***ing dumb. What makes that video 100x dumber is the fact that they are racing completely outclassed cars to show how cool they are. If you are running a GT40 on a V6 you had better damn well annihilate an STi with 'bolt-ons' or whatever. That would be like Dream racing N/A Civics then popping off like a tough ass about it.
A lot of the Vdub owners are like that, just check out VWVortex. They think they are the crap because they drop 10K into a 15K car (sometime 20k into a 5K car...) and think they rule because they beat stock mustangs and slightly modified Evos and Sti's. With a built motor (or a GT40 on a VR6), you should beat most "slightly modified" cars. The only difference is reliability, if that vr6 is not built up, it will blow headgaskets and valves like crazy. I had two vr6's and one 1.8t, one vr6 had 4 headgaskets within the first 60K miles, and the other had the whole top of the motor replaced at 32K. The 1.8t was the least problematic, only needing new ignition coils twice in 53K (recalls recieved the day after failure both times). I will never go back to VW.
