the giddy excitement of waiting for a new part... inlet ordered something small.. but it's still like christmas a little bit lol
I hate to stick up for the guy, but if you have a place to ride... by all means... almost more fun, and cheaper on gas.... traded out the bikes for jet skis / snowmobiles... we've got the jet ski so loaded with crap the thing barely floats. the brothers been #1 in the mn ijspa for god knows how many years. and now wants in on the snowcross. I wanted to get into dirt racing forever.. but the only place to play is elko..
There are plenty of places to ride that are within an hour or two from here, both for MX and woods riding. I'm planning on racing in the D23 hare scramble series next season. I hate to say it, but I'm pretty much done with the modding Subaru business. Sure, I may have one of the highest power (well at least when I run it on corn booze) stock turbo WRXs in the counrty but I don't feel like wasting any more money on the stuff -- hell, even Dream's car got old after a while. The bikes are way more fun, way easier to work on, and modding them costs only a fraction of what car stuff does.
what size bike / make are you riding? and do the trails have a cost to ride 'em? / jumps? I had a Yz125... wanted a 250.... but that bike is so just freaken huge it made me nervous. damn straight about cheap mods.... you can make a bike more then scary fast for a grand.
I've got both an '01 yz125 and an '05 yz125. The wife rides a ttr125, but I think we are going to get her a kx100 next spring. The '05 is getting new suspension this winter and will probably get a 144cc kit next summer. All of the state trails are free to ride, you just need to have a spark arrestor and dnr stickers ($30 for 3 years, iirc). The park up in Gilbert even has a mx track in it. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/ohv/index.html
I ride alot in the Paul Bunyan forest and Chequamegon forest. Both great places to ride the DRZ, I think I'm gonna install a hitch this spring. Does anyone think that the wrx hitch will hold the weight of a bike and hitch bike rack?
No. The max tongue weight for the WRX is something like 200-250lbs. You'll need to get a small trailer if you want to bring the DRZ. My car has no problems pulling it with two bikes. Which places are Paul Bunyan & Chequamegon on this map? I don't see them. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/ohv/map.html
Did you have to get XL exhaust hangers to clear the hitch? Paul Bunyan link Can't find Chequamegon info at the time but it is in the Hayward/Cable Wi. area. We should ride together come next spring! Oh also the Nemadji is another quick fun trip, little more restrictive though.
Nope, I'm still using the stock hangers. But then again, I'm using a 2.5" Prodrive axelback -- those don't tuck up against the bumper as much as other aftermarket mufflers.
only so much you can do to the car before the up-keep becomes depressing on a daily drive... Dbx... hose her down after a hard trail ride ... and clean it up a bit I might have to look back into a bike again. brother still has his truck for hauling toys. .. w00t.
What I meant was that the joys of 450+ whp wore off pretty quickly. What used to be frightening is now only somewhat frightening.
Ah, but you do not have mastery, young grasshopper, until it becomes second nature and not even worth your attention...
sorry to hijack the thread.....how long ago did you ut your order in? just curious. I think FP had a 6-8 week wait...
I haven't yet.... but.... I'll be getting it ordered tomorrow morning. We'll see what Josh says.....just finished talking with him on the phone.... *crosses fingers*
