Girlfriend's escort is officially totaled, so as of tomorrow she will be without transportation. soooo.....looking for a BG Legacy Outback. must have auto tranny. budget is in the $3-4k range. here in Duluth or in the Cities is fine.
zero interest in sedans, zero interest in impreza's (can't stand the rear hatch....how worthless). a turbo would never get used, and would just soak up mpg's. we're thinking that we'd be looking at the bottom of the barrel outbacks at this price range.....so now looking at regular Legacy wagons. maybe we can add some outback suspension before next winter. so, looking for power windows and locks, ABS a plus (blah blah blah), etc. currently looking seriously into this: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/car/531228247.html or http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/car/512082064.html
First one says traction control = FWD ftl. Ignore it. Second is ok, price seems about right. A friend bought one like that a year ago for 2300, had 130k, 5spd though.
what? AFAIK, FWD ones don't have traction control any more than AWD ones do. I have already emailed him about if it's AWD or not since the ad doesn't say.
Traction control was only available on 95 FWD models. http://www.cars101.com/subaru_legacy_archive95_97.html
i had no idea they still had an option of awd or fwd in 95. and besides you dont want a fwd subaru its degrading.
I had no idea there were people that knew so little about subaru history . AWD was standard in '96. nothing wrong with a FWD subaru for a DD in most places (my mom's old FWD legacy did wonderfully in the cities), but here in Duluth.... we may have found our holy grail.....guy in the Ultimate subaru club has a '98 Outback Limited with 160k on the body, and 11k on a full rebuild (with STi head gaskets). it's a colorado car, so no rust, and he'll meet in Iowa. to a fellow long-time USMB member: $4k :eek3: we got the check from the insurance company....much higher number than I was expecting. $3200 with the $500 deductible and 600 buy-back already taken out of it....
