my cousin who usually likes good movies, said it was REEEAAALLY bad. and that there was a lot of "man parts" in it.... dunno if i want to see it but didnt even look good anyways. its weird cuz im a comic book boy.
I was unimpressed. It felt very linear. I really wanted to like it, but I just couldn't. It was like it started at the climax of a story arc and tried to stay there all the way until the end. It got tiring.
Saw it last night, DON'T go see it. It was 3 hours of very forced plot line and backstory, interspersed by lots of glowing blue peen and not enough (real) action, with a couple cheesy sex scenes. Big thumbs down from me. -Steve
Hmm, seems not many people enjoyed it. I certainly did. The story is pretty dense and it's better if you've read the comics. It was refreshing to see a rated R superhero movie for once.
Allright movie, I expected a little mor action. Rorschach (sp?) is a bad ass. Pretty deep themes, not to mention someone brought theie 4 year old to the 9 45 show I was at...WTF?
I own/read the trade, I also am an Allan moore fan. As far as matching up with the book, I'd say they did it as well as they could have. When it comes to just the movie: I think they should have not advertised it as a sexy action movie. The book certainly isn't. It's more of a social commentary with murder/mystery themes. So I think a lot of people went into the movie expecting something different. I liked it.
I had an old lady 2 seats down from me, the first time they showed Dr Manhattan "completly" i heard her "*gasp* oh my!"
I just saw it. More of a drama than a action movie. A lot of deeper meanings in it. Definitily not a light hearted movie I was expecting. Than again I never heard of Watchmen the comic so maybe it was suppose to be that way
When I saw the first trailer almost a year ago, I was floored and went straight to the local comic store and picked up a copy of the book. After I read it, I avoided all the media hoopla, except for the trailers. If they were trying to sell it as an action movie, that was a big fail on their part. Speaking of movies, anyone else excited for the new Fast and Furious? Yeah, I enjoyed the first one , so shoot me. But the sequels were crap. I noticed they have pretty boy Paul Walker driving a Subie!
just got back from it with a girl that wanted to see it, not impressed at all. it was 3 hours of hell and I took a nap during it and so did she and we thought we would awake with the credits rolling. Nope two more hours of lame'ness left to go. bad story line, bad actors and ****ty ending. .0000000000000001 star out of 100
I thought it was ok. My girlfriend didn't like it at all. Neither of us had read the comic and both expected more action.
as a comparison: did most of you like V for Vendetta? Same author, different movie, equally good in my opinion.
I saw it with my fiancee on Saturday night. I'd read enough to know that it wasn't the average superhero movie, and I was ok with that. I personally liked it a lot, and thought they did the best they could with the multiple story lines that are in the book. The opening credits sequence is one of the best I've ever seen, hands down. No, it wasn't the life changing movie I think a lot of people were expecting, but I also think that there were too many people who went into it with different expectations and came away disappointed.
I thought that it was just very well done, and the way they showed the progression of the group of superheroes combined with the historic events and setting it all to Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A Changin" was perfect. I thought it did a great job of telling its own story in just a few minutes.
Oh yeah, I did really enjoy the soundtrack, no hop-hop...as much as I love it rap it is shown in an extremely bad light when used in mainstream movies.
i saw it in IMAX and actually really liked the movie of course i have the actual graphic novel too so maybe that's a bit different from the rest of you
just finished it at home... meh.. was ok... wouldve rather seen more lady gentalia then bluemangroups pecker
 Yeah that was my comment, if they considered their target audience (probably a lot of dudes considering it was a graphic novel) why didn't they show more TnA than the guys wang? The social commentary aspect of it I actually liked, however I think it would need some serious redoing to not make it so boring. I guess I was expecting a little bit more of an action flick seeing how every other movie that's come out based on a comic/graphic novel has been pretty awesome lately. -Steve
