Any of you all effected by the storm from yesterday? Property wise, I think my place is in ok shape. But they're saying that my neighborhood could be without power for days??

Anyone else get hit hard? I could have sworn that someone here is from Andover where things got hit the hardest, it seems?

Well, i live in Andover, and i have two trees down and debris everywhere. Power was out for about 1/2 hour but our block had power the rest of the night where others around didnt. There are trees down everywhere out here, fences down. Its going to be a bitch to clean up. But everyone is ok.

I didn't get a whole lot of sleep, we were pretty busy in Golden Valley. I spent a good part of the night riding in our aerial. We share a radio frequency with Brooklyn Center/Park and it got so busy the dispatchers were calling the station by phone and relaying calls and we were getting assigned from the station. No serious fires, just a lot of wires down and fire alarms triggered.

Hey Chris, if you need a generator let me know. My stepdad is a distributor for Katolight generators.

Your neighborhood sounds fine compared to BC. Huge trees blocked both exits and no way out, streets flooded with 7-8 inches of rain. The whole neighborhood was out last night till bout 10:30 cutting trees so people can get in and out. Massive trees were ripped out of the ground exposing their roots. Trees falling on eachother breaking others onto houses. While the fire truck comes and goes with no help. Electricity out till Sunday the latest. Damn this sounds like a book!!! Better be in time for football dammit!!! It was pretty cool but focked up.

I was on the road when the worst of it hit, only 3 miles from home in Andover. Once the heavy rain started everyone stopped on the road (County 7 north of Anoke HS). I was PISSED, I knew the hail was coming soon but people just stopped where they were, they didn't even pull onto the shoulder (a full shoulder mind you). I was stuck where I was while hail pelted my car. It sounded like someone snapping a towel really loud each time one hit. At one point only the left side of my car was getting hit with hail and I was a little scared it was gonna take out the driver's side window. The wind got so bad the truck behind me blew right onto the shoulder.

Sometime during all this 830 said that tornado warning were issued and then traffic finally started moving or pulling over. I was only a mile from home so I crawled along at 10 mph, about as fast as could be considered safe given the conditions. Everyone else had disappeared (or was beyond my 15 foot visibility range) and I made it halfway down my driveway before I got "stopped". I have a 1/4 mile long wooded driveway so it acts like a shelter in bad weather. I could see a lot better and fortunately caught the motion of a cedar tree coming across the driveway. That would have destroyed my car. However now I was on the wrong side of it with a ton of other trees around me so I backed into my little orchard and waited out the worst of it before hiking through the forest to get home and to my chainsaw.

I also have a big cedar leaning on my power line about 25' from the house that will tear out the power line (from the house even) at any moment. I'm sure the power company is too busy fixing worse outages to come out and take care of that tree before it rips out my power but I don't mind. I can't believe that tree is being almost completely supported by the power line.

Car seems to have weathered quarter-sized hail without even a paint chip. And I'm glad I couldn't see much past the shoulder when I was out there, on driving to work this morning I saw big trees that landed within feet of where I was. I guess not all of that was thunder that I was feeling.
