First off, I would like to thank everyone for their patience for the past 24 hours. This ended up being a fairly large undertaking that is still not 100% complete. As of now, the site is back open for business. Everything should work. Everyone's information should be good. All the accounts that I checked on looked like everything was fine. On my test conversion I only had 2 (out of 2600) accounts that did not transfer properly. With the final conversion, everything worked perfectly, everyone's accounts transferred. With that, there will be a bit of a learning curve for everyone, including myself. Running a test site with only 1-2 people on it will be a bit different than the normal 40+. So there is that possibility that I did miss a few things that I just can't test. So please, if you see any bugs, color issues, anything out of the norm, please ask away. A couple of quick tips. This software makes themes a snap. Currently there is 6 different themes. 4 dark themes (color variants) and the default theme and a light theme. In the lower left corner, it will say the current them you are using and if you hold your cursor over it, it will give you the option to change it. Please fell free to pick the theme that best suits your eyes. I will also be tweeking the themes a bit more to help fit the site a little better. I am currently waiting for the DNS to get us moved over to the new IP/server. Once that happens, I will be able to finalize Tapatalk, facebook, and some of the google services. Over the next couple of days, there will be some changes being made. Thanks again for everyone's patience. MNSubaru
Sexy new site is sexy. I particularly like the Light Theme. I do have one question though: Is there a way to pick a display font for posts that doesn't have the serifs ? Or is that fixed in the theme ? Great job, Russ. Thanks.
The font is fixed to the themes. So at this point, I am going to concentrate on getting some of the features up and running again, then go back and start fine tuning the themes. I like the light theme, I am just not real thrilled with the font. It was nice to see everything still working this morning when I got up and not have 5439873409845390435 freak out PM's. Russ
Yeah, if somebody whining about the font is pretty much the only serious complaint you've had, I'd say the migration was a resounding success. I look forward to seeing the theme tweak as and when it happens. Cheers, Stuart.
Maybe I'm just missing it but has the # of posts per page option gone away? Is this one of the extras you are still adding in?
I really like the main dark theme and i have no problem with the fonts, it can be read on the tv now without zooming. I also like the lack of VB
one thing i do not like, if you click "whats new" and go into a thread, that thread will not show as "new" anymore if you click whats new again. ... so if you go "oh i wanna look in that again" it won't be in the list and you will have to go to the actual forum and seek out the thread.
Yep, my for sale thread is a perfect example. I've bumped it 3 tmes, and it still doesn't show up in the "what's new" listing.
As for the new thing, well, you already looked at it and posted about it, so really it isn't new anymore. I can check to see if there are any settings to change, but I doubt it. Anything new will only be new until you see it and once you see it, its not new anymore. I would guess that all the old thread subscriptions are lost until I get the link redirects in place. Most of the links from the old system do not work with this system. The redirect scripts is one of the things on my list that I need to get done before I start anything else. Hopefully I will have them done tomorrow. Russ
I roll with the Dark/Yellow theme, personally I liked the aesthetics of the old site better, but this platform seems to have much more functionality...
I think it looks very good. Thank you for the time and effort! One thing I do not like is that the e-mail notifications do not show the new message. Not a big deal, but it's nice to have when I'm out and about.
Ok, it looks like I got most of the redirects working. Looks like all the threads work, but some of the user pages and forum index pages are not working, but old links that are in posts "should" go to the correct place on the new site. Russ
FYI, I've also noticed that I'm not getting "conversation" (previously private message) notices via email since the move.
Yes, most of the settings and permissions had to be reset for this software, those could not be converted over. You can turn them on in your settings. Russ
I know you probably don't give a rat's ass since IE6 is more out of date than Madonna, but it's all I can uses at work, and it has issues with loading roughly half of the threads. "MNSubaru.com Error - The requested page could not be found." is what it tells me. Just putting it out there. Tapatalk will be my only option I suppose until my company finally gets around to updating this crap.
The other thing to remember is that I am not sure how the new system handles the old messages. Because it was flagged before, XF might not recognize that it needs to be flagged. The content is there, just the permissions and settings for the content can't transfer over. I would guess that any new conversations will be flagged for notices. Russ
Any more info than that?? Like what browser, OS, etc?? For me the site is fast as hell and WAYYYY faster than VB. Kinda figured it would. If you actually go look in your old pm's, the new system breaks them apart into single messages and you lose all your old folders. Unfortunately, that is just part of the conversion process to different software. At least the old messages are still there. Russ
For some reason I can't start "conversations" on Tapatalk. It gives me an error stating that the site hasn't activated Tapatalk.
