I know a guy who can fix it for you. And why wouldnt you weld aluminum. That doesnt make sense. But any ways if you want his number pm me. He lives in plymoth and works out of his garage. Best welder I have ever seen.

find soemone who knows welding and get their opinion... cast will never weld as good, but it is do-able with someone who is good... and once welded PROPERLY it will be strong.. I wouldnt recommend it if it is a structural piece so much.. but hey my frame on my TL1000R is aluminum and I see welds all over it adn I am pretty sure the frame was cast...

You can weld cast it's just a royal PITA and may not ever hold correctly.

Your best bet is to buy a new stay. They aren't that much.

Well like I said I have never had an issue with strength. We use to modify stock cast aluminum control arms for corrvetts back when we were racing them. We would weld on new coil over mounts and replace the bushigs with heim joints. Along with other stuff I cant remember. Never had one failure issue. Yeah I know its a pot metal. But that doesnt mean it can't be fixed safely.
