On Friday I traded my 2002 WRX for a 2005 STI from the St. Cloud Subaru dealer. All I can say is wow.

2 days and 400 miles later - here's the differences I can find between the two cars:

    1. Whole lot more power (of course). Shifting from 3rd to 4th to 5th at full power is something to be experienced. Even in 6th gear it pulls like crazy.
    2. Steering is a nimbler
    3. There is more road vibration, but I like it. I'm used to a stiff suspension with my Toyota Tacoma, the Subaru was slightly stiffer.

Now it's my wifes turn to drive it ... I'm glad I traded up. The insurance increase for me (at 49 years old) is an extra 75.00 / month.

    hey there...

congrats on the trade up. glad to hear that you're loving the car. yeah, there's quite a difference between the regular wrx and the sti, but i don't really think it's such a good idea to be going through the gears at full power... the cr needs to be properly broken in first.

Yeah, I agree, I had to get on it at least once to see what it could do. Of all the things that impressed me the most was the acceleration in the higher gears.

Wife is going to take the car for the next week for work, so it will be broken in in a more sane manner :)
