http://www.autospies.com/news/Toyota-Subaru-2011-Supra-Successor-Withers-Away-41455/ Yup. Put on hold for a long while I guess. :emo:
Just read this http://wot.motortrend.com/6444347/a...r-drive-sports-coue-project-on-ice/index.html and was trying to find one of the old threads ... either way its kinda sad.
Nissan was about a year head of the curve on the car (they started earlier), and was expected to be delivered yet this year as a 2010 model. that may have slipped, as I hadn't paid attention for a while (realisitically I won't be getting either, as my next car will have to be larger than our Altima, to haul around growing family, and to tow the race car).
that is ghey as ****! i wanted this thing to come out soo bad! the antisipation grows more intense. (ya know what else is intents?!?!?11//1/?!aanowayomfgwhatcoulditbe?! CAMPING!! bahahha :rollydudex9millionf'ingtimez: ) i really they will pull through with this coupe however, because i was just reading about how toyotas direct injection system was having some complications with the boxer platform. so hopefully they will take this time off to perfect this sports car and we will see a beast born in the next few years.
Someone say Dr. Bacon??? <-- Avatar.... Also, PS... This sucks. I wanted to see this so called RWD Subaru drifto-mobile. Although it would be likely badged Toyota, due to Subaru having only AWD cars... Either way, when they come out, I'm going to have to go test drive one. Maybe Subaru will badge one, and then I will have a RWD trans option to look at incase I decide to blow up the 5-speed and go pro-drifter style...
there were a few official websites that stated the toyota version would sell in japan and the subaru version is going to sell in the US. no joke.
meh.. most guys would run out and fanboiy buy one just to post on here htat they need $$$ and are selling it 3 weeks later... meh
Most people are also stupid and don't understand their own financial capability. Why do you think there are so many foreclosures right now???
Its kind of interesting that supposedly the Subaru and the Toyota were going to have different exterior designs. I wonder if there would be an AWD version.... when these come out..... if they come out....
I've always heard 2012 for the release and the original 2010 as being an "oops" thing. The recent PRoN indicated delays being attributed to updating the engine design and putting Toyota's direct injection on the boxer engine. It would be useful to get actual direct info on the project then hearsay and vague comments, but what are you going to do? The Toyota in Japan and Subaru in the US has been known for some time.
The plan was for the Toyota to be the RWD Sport Coupe, and the Subaru was going to be the AWD Coupe. I hope that we get to see the Toyota coupe here...
I didn't see anywhere in those articles that the Subaru was gonna be AWD. Now, I haven't followed this project at all, but the way I read those articles BOTH cars woulda been RWD, just different bodies. The USDM assumption seems to be Subaru=AWD; but that has not always been the case here (GL, Loyale, Justy, Impreza in my memory), nor is it the case elsewhere. And I didn't see any market release info so maybe they wouldn't have made it Stateside for some time. Just some thoughts...
So this is what it looks like when you type by slamming your face into the keyboard. Interesting. I had a feeling this was going to happen, hopefully it'll come out at some point but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Hmm, only info I've seen always pointed to a strung out 2.0L NA pushing 200HP as the powerplant. Also both variants were always rwd. I've never seen mention of an awd version, although, some can speculate.
I just want to hear more about the supposed 2010 or 2011 release of the new Toyota Tacoma!!! I heard mention at one point, and now its off the radar. Something about a turbo 4 cylinder that could pull 5,000 lbs and got 25mph on the highway.
IL Insider: The "Toyobaru" Is "Still on Track" IL Insider: The "Toyobaru" Is "Still on Track" Date posted: 03-02-2009 TOKYO — If you've recently read a story or two about the delay, or even the demise, of the compact sport coupe that Toyota and Subaru are jointly working on, don't believe it. That's the message from knowledgeable PR sources in Japan, who tell Inside Line that this intriguing sports car program is still very much on track.
2012 Toyota/Subaru in Road&Track Magazine Don't want to start a new thread on this: Read this in road&track magazine at work the other day. First time hearing that 2012 "toyobaru" is the new-age AE86. http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=10&article_id=8122
Agreed. I just really hope they don't make it bloated, then underpowered. I'm quite disappointed in the tq numbers tho.
They better follow through with this and the styling better be less bland than what the rest Toyota has to offer.
bUMP FOR NEWS AND "RENDERINGS" http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-ne...ct-frnew-specifications-revealed-ar75701.html Ugh, link cutoffs here are a pain. CLICKY.
I knew it was direct injected.....but they're calling it an EJ20...... EJ engine code. possibly put direct injection heads on other EJs? RWD 6MT bolt-up to other EJs? wow....I'm already thinking about parting one out Also: :yumyum::eek3::naughty::jumpy::rockwoot::run: and :woot:
I'm sure they're still using the EJ20 lower end, but just different heads with direct injection. Wonder if they'll go dual spark plug to make the burn more efficient, too, since the injector should usually be symmetrical in the combustion chamber for the best burn. EJ20X.... Interesting.
I bet the only difference between the Toyo and Subaru is EL and UEL headers on them. Toyota will HAVE to have the EL headers, or it would be like having an inline-4 Harley, or a V6 Ducati.
