What a mess, indeed. I made it like halfway through. It's pretty amazing what kind of money is involved in something like that as a whole. And I'm just over here trying to scrape together enough money to have fun at Powercruise one weekend a year. Haha.
"However, Avenatti is arguing GRC had an oral contract with Subaru for this year’s season, and that is an enforceable concept in the state of California." Ahh, "oral contract." Sounds like Colin Dyne is about as good at business as his son, Austin, is at racing. Crash and barrel through everyone else until you win. Claim they hit you first if anyone complains.
"I have been in contact with Japan" Translation: "I'm telling mom!" Then casually sends a court case where someone was successfully sued. Normally court cases between businesses are kind of interesting. There's a lot of subtly, strategy, and depth to the cases, and sometimes winning isn't even the purpose of the court case (e.g. Apple and Samsung constantly suing each other as a proxy war for contract negotiation). This case, however, is just hilarious. The sort of thing I would imagine would happen if there were courts in High School. Even threw in the old "your friends hate you too!" "We also understand that Mr. Dyne has physically assaulted Mr. Weir, by poking a finger in Weir’s chest while yelling at him, on at least one prior occasion at a public racing event." heeeellllpppp meee
