I would think it would be beneficial to spend the money on American goods/services. So I will probably spend it on projects around the house.

No, they think most people are going to spend it which will basically dump billions of dollars back into the economy. The theory is that if the economy slows down they will lose more in lost tax revenue than they spend with the rebates. I'm not sure I believe it's going to work...
Well, I'm going to use it without complaint. My gf is a student and will love to have it. My brother and his wife are teachers that have trouble making ends meet, they'll be glad to have it. -Stop being a negative nancy, and appreciate what the govn't does for us, even if it's not that much.
What they should do is stop spending BAZILLIONS on this dumba** worth nothing war and put it into our crumbling education system and economy. What I'm really gonna do with my rebate check... pay my student loans. They might as well keep it the bastards! :ugh::emo:

It's free money for most of us. I'm guessing most of us here aren't too strapped, seeing as most of have jobs and a car habit/hobby. If you weren't having trouble paying your bills before this all came up, why wouldn't you blow it on something fun?
