...than watch some cars drive up a ski hill?

If you don't know what bittorrent is, read on:

It's a file sharing method without any centralized servers for searching... just a few thousand independent networks of servers and peers, all sharing each others bandwidth and enjoying downloading the same file from multiple sources for high bandwidth downloads (provided enough people are seeding/sharing the file to support your max d/l bandwidth) Because it's all separate with no central servers, see if anyone can shut it down? No, I didn't think so.

I recommend TorrentStorm from http://www.torrentstorm.com . It's a nice client with many advanced features. Don't let the options overwhelm you, give it a day or so.

To get the maximum benefit from BitTorrent network, you need to forward ports 6881-6889 at a minimum to your PC (applies if you are behind a router/NAT device). Also, if you run a software firewall (or two, or three), you'll need to set up rules to allow incoming conenctions on those ports. If you have XP SP2, you DO HAVE a software firewall.. Click start - accessories - system tools - security console (or whatever it's called).

Finally, there are many sources on the web for BT downloads.. It's how most of us get initial D episodes and such right away. I don't have TiVo, or cable, and have really crappy TV reception (live in basin), so I enjoy downloading HDTV res TV episodes from bittorrent networks.

http://www.tvtorrents.net <- Lots of TV shows.
    http://www.btefnet.com <- More TV Shows
http://www.suprnova.org <- lots of good stuff, but watch out for popups

For the TV Shows, I find I like the ones named HDTV - LOL (or those two in some order). THey use a good compression ratio(file size vs quality balance), and have good resolutions.

    Have Fun!
