So my upgrade is available for me through AT&T and I am trying to decide what phone to go with. I have been on board with Apple since the Iphone 2. More and more options are available now and I do love Apple, yet I am open minded and willing to be entertained. I use my phone for downtime entertainment, waiting somewhere or on a lonely lunchbreak to browse the news. I do not play games on my phone, I use my phone for music in my car, although I am not against just buying an Ipod nano for that. I also need to maintain a functional calendar with scheduling options and be able to check email through Outlook. One thing I do hate with the Iphone is battery time, I do leave my bluetooth on for ease of use when I get into my car I do not have to deal with turning on and off. I do snap pictures from time to time and maybe even a video with no plans to produce a motion picture with it. Thats my story, just curious to what works for everyone.
iPhone 4S. I'm sure you already know all that it does. Battery life always sucks on phones so I just deal with charging it at night.
Yeah I guess I should have mentioned, currently I have the Iphone 4, my upgrade fell months before and I needed to use it because my Iphone 3s broke. So I have never used Siri. My Iphone 4 works just fine so if there is something coming out soon that is mind blowing, I can wait. Phones I am currently considering are. Iphone 5, Samsung Galaxy or even the note 2, and the up coming windows 8 phone. Also I am a die hard Itunes user so I am not sure how I will be impacted.
I have had awesome luck with my iphone 4. Battery life has been one of the pluses for me. What i have noticed is that sometimes there can be a disconnect of some kind with my outlook server causing the phone to constantly search for new mail. When this happens my battery life goes completely to ****. Reboot the server, all is good once more.
I've been an apple guy since the beginning. Tried a galaxy s3 and hated it, bought an iPhone 5 and sold it to my bro cause its not that much better than the 4s I use. I'm gonna try the Nokia lumia 920 when it's released this month even though I hate windows it looks cool.
I have a lumia 710. I don't particularly like it but it manages to avoid pissing me off most of the time. The exchange/office integration is very good. The rest is meh.
I thought the windows phone 8 software looked kinda cool. I'm just sick of apples same old ****. But it just works to good to pass up.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus. battery life is meh other then that easy to root tons of dev stuff out there for it because its a development platform phone. Within 2months of getting it went from ice cream sandwich to jellybean custom roms. never have had a issue.
Samsung Galaxy SIII is really nice. The screen is enormous, its almost the size of an entire iphone.. as far as battery, it has a 9 hour talk time. Another thing it has is a built in task manager that you can kill any apps running.
rooted Thunderbolt - it's old and my first smartphone. But it has convinced me to always root my future phones - much better performance and battery life that way. GSIII has a lot of support for rooting.
Are u a developer or do you have a career that needs use of the large screen? I'm just curious why some one needs a phone so big. Not saying its bad , just honestly curious.
Galaxy s2 that is all hacked and slashed. Running CWR 6.0.15 and CM10 nightlies. I usually get 2 days or so with moderate use which is pretty good since I am usually running bleeding edge CM roms. I will say this, I will NEVER renew a contract again. Next month I am paying the etf for my AT&T service and going to straight talk. $45 a month unlimited everything, still runs on at&t or Tmo towers. I tried it for a month and my 4g data was even faster than using the at&t apn.
No but the specs are nice. I have a note 2 and am not a developer nor have a career that needs it. It is a much nicer phone than most and the battery life is better than a lot of phone.
Personal - Droid Razr on Verizon. Great phone, awful battery life. Work - Apple iPhone 4s on ATT. Great phone, great battery life.
Casio Commando It's Verizon, so coverage is awesome. It's not 4G, and it's not the fastest, most super-awesome phone ever. But.... Waterproof. I've had it for a year, it's still solid. I play games (OK....mostly crossword puzzles) in the hot tub, waded out into the lake and took video of the family water skiing this year while standing in 4ft of water. I have no hesitation washing it off under the faucet when I get grease or whatever on it. It's kind of frustrating that the touch screen doesn't work for beans while it's wet. Also the speaker sounds like garbage until it's completely dry. $30 for the charging cradle was well worth it so it can be charged without opening the waterproof cover over the USB port every time.
I love how iOS is so smooth and reliable. But I'm sick of it. Gonna do the lumia 920 on window 8. I just hope they hurry up and release it.
Currently running a Samsung Galaxy SII. Since I got the phone I've only had a few small issues. It has locked up 3 times where I had to remove the battery. Also, since updating to Android 4.0 my text message sound sometimes doesn't work and ringer doesn't work randomly as well. Other than that I love the phone and I really like the software. I don't miss iOS and Apple's business ideas one bit. Will I get another Galaxy? possibly... but I like this one enough to run it until it dies and who knows which phones will be available when that happens.
i have an iphone 4 and a galaxy s3. (i worked for att) I like the iphone better for some very very small reasons that probably only apply to me but if you are big into the outlook calendar function.. I think its easier and looks cleaner on the iphone. The battery on the galaxy s3 is going to be the same as the iphone if you leave the bluetooth on.. at least in my experience. Bluetooth connectivity in the car is good on both and the quality is good. The one nice thing about the galaxy is you can expand the memory and take the battery out. On the other hand if you have any warranty issues you can walk right into an apple store and take care of the problem on the spot. They also offer apple care so if your rough on phones its a good thing to have. To replace a broken phone its only $50 (shattered screen, water dmg, ect) att insurance is $10 a month and is a pain in the ass to deal with and get your phone replaced. The deductable is also $200. I could go on and on haha so if you have any questions you can always ask. Sorry for the sales type of post.
I thought that all cellphones were invented to piss us off? I have a dumbphone, it works like all other cellphones...sometimes. lol. Drops calls like all 0ther phones too! Only cost me 80 bones tho, so i'm happy-ish! If there is ever a phone that works everytime that i need it to, i will stand/sleep in line to buy it!!
Currently on an original Galaxy S running Bionix V by Team Whiskey. Been with Android since 1.1 and I'm going to switch to Windows Phone 8. Tired of messing around with it. Flashing different ROMs gets boring after a while. And I hate Apple, so the iPhone is out.
Kind of. All telecom's/carriers were invented to piss us off, and all products they sell by extension. My last dumb phone was also the last phone I really liked. I came to the smartphone party pretty late. Technically I was writing commercial applications for them before I ever owned one... Anyway, I have low tolerance for ****ty design/usability/stability. Don't bother with a given feature at all if all it's going to do is bug out and get in the way.

Exactly! I will be a dumbphone owner until they are completely phased out by the MartPhones. I just want a PHONE that works all of the time as a PHONE! "But my phone has angry birds on it"...humph, whatever.
Tried in-store nearly every android phone that was out about a year ago on both Verizon and Sprint, with the main goal being voice quality. Pretty much every one of them sounded like crap (to caller on the other end.) iPhone 4S sounded best, so went with that. Also Samsung Replenish for the wife, sounded great and had a physical keyboard, which she wanted. (lots of other limitations on that one though.) Sad that PalmOS died, I really liked the feel of that over iOS and Android. Have iPhone5 now, doesn't look hugely different, but you get used to the lighter weight and thin-ness so the 4S kind of feels like a brick now in comparison. Maybe the current Android phones have better voice quality, I'd be interested in comments on that. But I think most people just don't care if their phone works as a phone anymore.
As a phone, the iPhone I'd say is towards the bottom of the list as far as signal strength. If you have a full signal it's clear as can be but I've never once had an issue with the galaxy s line of phones. I change 5x the amount of SIM cards for iPhones because the customer is having call/signal issues. It's a tough choice and I'd say you can't go wrong with either an s3 or iPhone 5. The iPhone is easier to use 1 handed if you have small lady like hands like me.
I bought a GS3 and thought the signal strength was weak compared to my 4s, and the battery was horrible. It was a cool phone though. I just hate all the crap you have to navigate through and it seemed it just tool longer to accomplish simple task on the gs3. I'm leaning towards the note 2 or lumia 920. I love iPhones, hate apple as a company, and I think iOS is getting to be really damn boring. I know I'm repeating myself but I'm bored. Lol
I agree with nuke, the only real difference between the gs3 and note 2 is going to be the size. The UI is going to be the exact same so you would have to navigate the same way you would have on the gs3. Im suprised to hear the gs3 had a worse signal than the iphone 4s. Thats the first time I have heard that. The windows phones are nice but I would HIGHLY recommend you play with a live one in a store and do the things you would normally do on a phone. I've seen it so many times where a customer buys a windows phone coming from an iphone or android and brings it back a week later because it doesnt do half the stuff the other OS's do.
The only thing that makes the Note 2 better, really, is the battery. 3100mah. I can go a whole day on a full charge and still have 30-40% at the end of the night. And I'm constantly emailing, texting, calling others, playing games, facebook and such. Oh yea, you also get the typical "Wow, that thing is HUGE" LOL, other than that, it's pretty much a GS3 with a stylus pen. Oh yea, 2gb of ram and Quad Core but eh, whatever. Can't wait to play with the Nokia 920.
