What if I have a garage with no skills and Harbor Freight tools? Is it a sketchy safety shed?

I didn't do it to my Subaru, it did it to itself...

I do have a '99 2500 2wd with a 6.0 4L80 combo sitting here. Was intended for the Chevelle project but could wedge it into one of these wagons.

I sent the pic to my buddy that does the WB stuff and said Wickedly Broken. Although Woefully is probably more fitting.

My house. Dissection will start in the near future. I can't afford to pay someone to fix this crap, unfortunately. Also why I'm driving a clapped out bugeye to begin with...

    New wheels for the OBXT.
Original wheels received some Continental snow tires.
Timing belt/water pump for the STi. Need to figure out a turbo rebuild for that one, unfortunately. Also, need to raise the suspension at some point.

Get some paint on those garage walls. The unpainted drywall just keeps getting uglier as it ages.

Aforementioned Nokian tires on the stock FXT wheels. Did a low effort plastidip using up 3 partially-used cans I had on the shelf.

Ha totally. I remember the night and day difference after replacing the stock shifter with a TiC short throw... along with the Koyo Aluminum radiator easily one of the most worthwhile upgrades.

He is doing better and after 4 long days, and nights, we are back home! He came down with RSV which is not good when you are 5 weeks old I hear. It sucks to hear such a young little fella with such a deep chest cold.

Moved the wagon over about a foot after topping it off with gas, just in case I didn't end up making another purchase this weekend (which I did).

Saturday when it was warm outside I got them both prepped for surgery with a bath. Made enough room in the shop on Sunday to get them both inside.

Last night the party officially started. Jacked up the blue one and started pulling it apart in order to pull the motor. Got a handful of things off and out of the way. Wasn't planning to open the timing stuff until it was out of the car, but the wife came out after she got home and I had someone to assist with getting the crank pulley bolt out. Here's the wreckage...

Best I can tell is the water pump pulley came apart from the impeller shaft and worked its way far enough out/off that the belt lost tension and grenaded. Aside from the obvious shredding as a result of coming off track, the belt looks pretty good.

I'm no stranger to the infamous water pump/head gasket failures but this is a new one for me. Car never overheated so this all had to happen almost instantaneously, or so I assume.

holy crap, I've never seen (a covered) timing belt split like that before.

I gave a potential buyer a test drive this morning in the WRX. Found a new vehicle that should fit the fleet needs a little better.
sourced some nearly perfect fenders for the F350 flatbed for Cheeeeap (yesterday)
ordered a pile of parts to rebuild the dune buggy engine
finished removing unneeded parts from the fastback to install the 5x130 disc brake swap and air ride. (yesterday)

Right? My guess is it caught the edge of one of those belt guides or or something. Crazy.
