92 Plymouth Colt 5 speed. It was awd till one of the front axles fell out... (Picture not mine obviously. But no pictures of the old girl)
Not sure on the year. 90s Grand Am. Was supposed to be my car but Mom decided she wanted a minivan instead. Yes, when her daughter was learning to drive and she'd only have to cart around 2 kids after I get a car, she decided THAT was the best time to get a van. I then had to drive the van until I got my own car. Awesome.
Late 90's purple Windstar that looked just like this. Ability to pick up 6 chicks, yet somehow picked up 0.
1983 Grand Prix LJ. I loved the G body cars, always wanted a Monte Carlo SS but couldn't afford one, so I bought this for $1200 when I was 15. I quickly learned about over steer that first year, had a lot of fun, saved a lot of potential spinouts, but never crashed her. Not bad for a new driver. Picture of a picture ftw
When I got my license, my parents had 1992 Subarus. My dad's a Loyale, and my mom's a Legacy. Both FWD and auto trans. I pretty well spent my time 50/50 in both cars with my permit, but almost exclusively the Loyale by myself. The Loyale, doin what highschool cars do best: I acquired both cars, and a few years later, I put the engine from the Legacy in the Loyale, along with 4WD, 5MT, and 5-lug swaps, and it became the FrankenWagon.
I learned to drive in my parents' cars, a 1982 Pontiac J2000 5spd and a 1988 Ford Taurus wagon, but my first car was a 1985 Cadillac Fleetwood.
That's weird. There was something eerily similar in our driveway at one point in the 90's. Homemade VW buggy of sorts.
The smile on my face has never left because of my dad taking me off road when I was a kid...He still rides a Quad on the Glamis dunes and he turns 80 in June
I learned on this exact Oliver 1650 at about age 12. My dad gave it to me before he sold the farm and I needed the snowblower. The automobile I learned on about the same age was a mid 1980s F-250 4 speed with an I6.
10 year old one of these in 1996... Except in turd brown and with a "bad cop no donut" sticker on the hatch.
Mine looked like this, but military flat black and same rims/tire combo. 3 spd on the stalk in all its 130 hp glory! Wish I still had pics of that thing (got lost in transit to different duty stations). Purchased in '93 for a whopping 1000 bucks from one of my friends in my unit. He used the money to buy an old 60's Mercury Monterey.
Hahah, yes, 3 on the tree. My buddy had a '71 FJ40 in the robin's egg blue with 4 on the floor. I always used to call mine "a Jeep on steroids". Donut media just did a "All you need to know" video on the Land Cruiser and it made me want one again.
No mercy given to me. Parents figured if I learned to drive and parallel park in a Suburban, everything else would be easier. They weren't wrong.
My old man's '88 Plymouth Voyager. Don't be jelly. (not actual photo, but identical except for the lack of a red pinstripe)
My friends parents (who had the worst taste in cars) had one of those. It was all maroon. And awful. I learned on a 1991 Chevy S10 Blazer.
