Ok, so after a short stint with the M3 I realized that if I wanted to continue racing, I'd better do this the right way. So, in order to stop myself from tracking my daily drivers I traded in the M3 for something a little different I know my motivation for getting something that can tow, but the way it went down was typical car buying behavior on my part. Before I state what it is, I know the distaste for this brand on this site...but so far so good. Fun for an SUV, and warrantied for a while still. So, it's an 04 Touareg V8 with everything on it. It's white with the camel colored interior and clean. Given that SUV's are basically being given away with gas cards these days, I figured what the hell...and so now I have my tow vehicle. Next will be the dedicated track car. I either want to do a spec 944, an older M3 or maybe even a wrx gutted and prepped for the track...we'll see. I won't be doing this until spring, so I have some time to think about it. If anyone has any other good ideas for dedicated track vehicles, let me know. The appeal of the Porsche is that it can be competitive in the Porsche club events. But, I suppose I could do NASA as well and then could open myself up to a slew of other cars. Mike
Haha your sig still says "05 WRX STi." Sounds like you're moving to very quickly thru the process here. Well I'm glad to hear about the new ventures. Keep me posted as I'm sure we're bound to meet at a track event once again. LOL
Ha, I just changed it I haven't been out here all too often in the past few months...maybe more now that I'll be researching a viable track beast
944 is always a good choice due to how cheap you can get them for older M3s make me  Something else to consider: RX7
Thought about the RX7 as well. The 944's are just so damn cheap...even spec'd out. I mean I could probably get one that is in good running order with everything I need for PCA spec events for under $10k...hell, I could have a trailer with that. But the older M3's are fun...I mean E30's or E36's can be made light and fast, and there are parts galore. This could be fun
my car is still 4 sale lol probably will be in spring to. http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26804 Dave
Way too heavy and too expensive to be a track beater, imho. Definitely a very cool street car, though.
Okay time for some 101 over cheech. I don't want to sound biase or blunt, about this question. But I'm usually surrounded by Bimmers and for years I have been trying to figure out why do people love bimmers soo much, what is it about them that draws people to these cars? To have been around them for many years and I'm still trying to figure out why would I ever want to buy one for track or overall performance. Yes, you can't compare apples to oranges, but what I'm looking for is the information I'm probably missing. Are they really that good and fast on the track? And just incase your wondering, I have asked this very question to my fellow Bimmer friends. But I have yet to meet someone who could prove to me why I should.
