Is the body in good shape? underbody damage as in frame damage?

Are you looking to buy one or are you trying to sell your own?

What is the meaning of life? Kidding, sort of.

By underbody damage you can likely assume it was totaled due to an badly damaged frame. Sounds like a parts donor more than rolling stock. You could start by offering the used value of the engine, driveline, brakes and wheels based on a discount to prevailing NASIOC pricing assuming they are functional.

Runs and drives is usually a loose term with many salvage companies. They usually claim that if it simply starts, doesn't matter how rough it idles or how it sounds just if it starts. See if you can't hear it run for yourself If your looking to buy it. Definitely take a good look at the frame. Frame damage repair can add up fast!

    +1 for this.

If you are looking at buying it, the "Runs and Drives" stamp from the auto auction is a very loose standard. It basically means that they turned the key and the engine started with minimal assistance (jump box most likely for dead batteries). There are many cars out there which run perfectly fine but dont get the stamp for simple reasons, ie cant get into the drivers seat from being tboned or the starter wire became disconnected.

I think that Soupboy is right at its worth ~ the sum of its parts. used EJ257, used 6mt, wheels if they are good, ect... If it is frame damage it can be fixed just like most body work but depending on how bad it is it just might not be cost effective (cheaper to buy another used non wrecked one vs fixing this one)

probably worth more in parts than as a whole if the unibody really is tweaked

that really depends on the damage. we'd have to actually know how extensive it is

the interior is taken apart, are all the pieces there? can it be put back together correctly? can the frame be completely realigned (or has it already been fixed)?

    Is the car black?

There was a kid local up here that hit a piece of metal that fell off a semi infront on him. It went through the passanger floorboard. No other damage to the car. I have tried to figure out where it was going cause his insurance company totalled it. I want to buy it!!!

If your not intrested, PM me info, I might be intrested in buying it.

    I would say 10k.

by the time you sell the motor, trans and seats and brakes, turbo, intercooler, maybe rear bumper? door cards, steering wheel, cluster. you could make more than what you bought it for

Just to chime in, there was recently a salvageable 05 STI with 17,000mi on it up North here in Manitoba that was t-boned.

It went for $7000 CAD lol.
The kid who bought it has a new motor, tranny, interior and suspension/brakes to swap into his GC now.

Pretty sure it was written off due to frame damage, not sure the extent of the damage, but all those parts I listed were still useable.

Depending on the damage, and what is missing. I would fix it.

Cut out the hole in the floor. Have someone weld a new piece of AL in. New carpert and the other interior pieces. Then you have a nice STi for cheap.
