    hey everyone,
i can't find a pic with this on any bumper that i google...my wife hit a deer
and we had to have bumper replaced. the shop guy has the part coming to
put in this hole but i was curious what it is since its not the fog lights? would
appreciate if anyone has a pic. (kind of funny, since the original bumper didn't
have fog lights, and the 2nd bumper did but they were never connected, and now
    the 3rd has this :)

On most Subarus, as Sheen said, that is the location for the “screw in” front tow hook.

I'm guessing the part that is coming in is the cover for that hole.

Check around your spare tire for it. On my Crosstrek it's in the form molding around the spare. I would assume it's the same on yours. But I could be completely wrong too

The older models had one in the little pouch with the tire iron and such in the trunk. Newer models, 05+(I believe) had them molded into the trunk floor.

thanks, i'll check on that. as you say i do have one in my 99 OB. it may take a while
as it's "pretty darn chilly" today, and it will require me to move over the 80lb tube
of sand that i almost got a hernia putting in a few months back!

I was just confused about sand tubes in the back of an AWD vehicle to begin with. I thought that's why we Subaru, because we don't need it.

I don't need sand tubes anymore, dead hookers do a great job of weighing down the back end, and they last longer in the cold weather.

Did the salesman forget to give you an owner's manual? Man, they are always doing that!!

Yea, there's an eye bolt in the tool kit, and a little cover on your front and rear bumper. That eye will thread into either position for recovery. It doesn't look like much, but I've seen people yank on those hard enough to send me ducking for cover....
