So, I was trying to hunt down the reasons for my p0171 last night. I had the IC off and I was tightening the turbo inlet hose clamp to the turbo, when my wrench fell beneath the turbo and into another dimension I think, since it took me about 15min to find it!!! But anyway, while reaching down there with my magnet, I come upon this peace of hardened plastic or something...WTF IS THIS???

My 6 cylinder makes 1250 lb/ft of torque.
It's the cover for your flywheel, it should be in the back of the block/bellhousing area. I had mine come loose at Ojibwe and it was squealing like a mofo. It doesn't really serve any purpose, it's just an inspection cover. Nothing to be concerned about :)

should I be concerned if my car is an auto...? I didn't realize I had a flywheel... :ugh: I guess that connects to the TC :)

    Not quite...

A flex plate is what the torque converter is bolted to. The torque converter would be the flywheel as it's heavy and keeps the motor in motion. It also has the ring gear for the starter drive to connect to.
