I hopped on Firefox, clicked to load up MNsubaru, and yeah... all the sudden when MNsubaru's homepage loads a pop up comes up and says "congradulations your the 1,000,000th visitor click here to win!" ugh... wtf? i have absolutly no idea what happened and/or why. i didnt click it either, knowing some members on here and my luck it would be a pic of Jasons butt or something along those lines. lol. anyone else EVER experienced this phenomenon? and no, i am NOT making this up
as said to scuba, my comp is clean, i dunno... fluke maybe? thought you guys should know tho, and would laugh at my expense maybe
lol, nothing, i JUST opened Firefox. lol. i had never gotten it before, i closed down the browser and re-opened it and nothing. just an odd occurance? odd none the less
you have ad-ware on your box. freeware is ad-aware software that does a fair job at removing. basicaly a different site, or software you downloaded had something you clicked ok to which has installed something evil on your pc and trying to play around with it just has it dig deeper. software you get to remove, run it a couple times, reboot, run again, and then run again some other times later on. some can sit in memory. good luck!
If you really want to know if you have spyware on your machine, run this http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=3155&file=10&evp=3304750663b552982a8baee6434cfc13 Don't click on anything else, the download will start on its own. Then copy and paste the log into the thread here.
i never get pop ups on mnsubaru. i have seen this 1 millionth visitor ad before, from my experience it is embedded in the site (ie car domain, or free web games sites)
oh well, no time at all today to look into it more, i have been running around like a chicken with its head cutt off!
firefox?? hmm...my brother had a few problems with it...i think it didn't go too well with ad-ware...im not sure...cause im just using the computer for online things....he take cares of the computer himself....but yea...well i dont know...i'll ask him again...and then i'll let you know dao
Firefox and ad-ware should not go hand in hand. Actually, a lot of people use firefox FOR the pop up blockers which were available in it a long, long time before IE decided to jump on the bandwagon. I have had pop up messages decide they wanted to show themselves AFTER I closed the page that I was viewing. What really gets me going lately are the ones that are embedded and slide across the screen right into your view (Forbes.com is notorious for this) NO i don't wanna take a god damned survey, I want to read the news! But I'd suggest a firewall, or go to firefox.com and see if they have any stronger blockers there under "extensions". Let me know what works for you too, I'm gonna de-linux my laptop and am not up to par on what is good for Windows
