Just want to know what oil filter most of you are using. Since the day I bought it, I've always been using the Oem blue one
Yeah, I was the same way with my other cars. I was educated by this community. There are a few good options out there. The popular ones seem to be... (in no order) WIX Napa Gold Subaru Blue/Black (I don't remember what they use) AMSoil Purolator Pure One
Fram filters should be avoided. Do some Googling and you'll find out why. I use WIX (Napa premium/gold are re-branded WIX) usually. They have a good reputation for quality. My alternate is a Purolator. Incidentally, the new Subaru filters are basically Frams. Crap.
ill cut open a subaru filter and see what they look like, they cant be as bad as a fram, i have cut one of those open and its sad to say the least..
Manufactured by Honeywell, who also manufactures Fram. Same guts, it appears. Cardboard endcaps, at least. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthre....html?s=c53fd9f0adce987ff22070a40ad8ec2f& http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showthreaded&Number=1276003 Post 15: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gr-general/169025-new-blue-subaru-oil-filters-2.html Post 58: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1662838&page=3
Hell yeah!! Amsoil. You always want to use the best filter possible. It is even more important that the oil you put in the car. If the filter doesn't filter, it doesn't matter what oil you have, you still have crap floating around in it. Russ
Buy one of those oil filter mounts with the two lines that go to an oil cooler, then feed them into another oil filter mount.
If OEM oil filters are good enough for Subaru to provide 60,000 mile powertrain warranties, OEM is good enough for me. Plus blue is my favorite color. And by the way, I used Fram for over 20 years, but that was on lesser marvels of automotive excellence than Subaru...and had no issues whatsoever.
WIX. When I was in college, we got to see 5-6 of the major oil filter companies filters cut open, what they were made of, and a demonstration of each ones filtration material in action, by pouring some nasty crap through them. WIX caught the most crap. Sold me on there products for life.
i use to use wix, but i cant get them at the local oreilly's anymore. they said they never stocked them i then showed them a receipt from 3 months before they were confused to say the least lol.
lol no sh!+ tomato, potato, same ish I use either purolator or pureone, whichevers available if both, i'll go for pureone. if not, purolator. if pocket change, purolator. if baller day, pureone.
They make a new one now... that costs more money It's for "synthetic" oil. I will personally still use the Pureone.
Unfortunately this is all I can use..... http://www.sspperformance.com/product/-sst-stainless-steel-transmission-filter/
I have a magnet that swaps on/off the oil filters. It is great to have, but the engine is made of aluminum.
Wix, Pure one and Amsoil are generally regarded as the best filters there are for quality and filtration. Baldwin is also very good but most people don't carry them, however, an Amsoil rep told me that Baldwin is one of the main producers for amsoils filters but they are made at amsoils specs, this was 4 years ago though. It might have changed since then.
I tend to use Quaker State "Q" Synthetic oil and NAPA Gold filters (made by Wix, but not sure to what spec...)
