here is where i'm stuck .... with my 96 impreza lx I have 17" and what should I be running for tire pressures? I have been running the stock psi but I am getting alot of tire noise and I noticed that my 04 has different tire pressures if you have 17" rims so whjat does everyone think.... am I bieng crazy and a*al or what or what do you run?

    Thanks

i ran 32 fron and 29 rear as stated on the car door, but when i got my new tires (potenza g009s) they always looked low at that pressure so i normally run about 35-36 front and 34-35 rear. they still look low but now i dont worry bout rubbing sidewalls.

BTW its good to see another green LX on the boards!

unfortunately at the time I am kind of embarassed to drive it the hood is FUBARd and the one I had shipped was damaged and it still needs to be painted.

did you do anything about the fading interior? I assume you have the same problem?

^that sounds more accurate if you have high performance tires. Usually 40 is a good number for those. Again, i am talking about high performance tires only.

i am running all season not drag radials so my set up is geared toward spirited dialy driving.

how badly has your interior faded? mine seems to be in decent condition (maybe because i havent seen a new tan interior from subie before) i am having one hell of a time w/ my doors though. the passenger one is toast from getting t-boned (in the spring) and the drivers one has issues with the window. beyond that i have small things like the glove box doesnt close flush and some of the upolstry is coming off the passenger seat.

sorry to hear bout the hood. i just replaced mine w/ a RS hood and the newer clear headlights.

i wanna see yoru car sometime!

my ride is verrry bumpy but I would not trade it for the world :)

and the most fading that I see is from the top of the rear seats, and on the dash is where you can really tell my vents look like theyve had freakin whitestrips 'cause they are a whole 3 shades whiter. but seriously I can tell a difference between the top and the bottom of all my vents, the bottoms actually match the dash

and of course you can see my car my old one is my avatar (sp?) and in real life sometime too, is yours a 2 door?

I am going to try rasing the tires by 2 psi tonight to see if that quiets down the tires thankks for alll the help guys :) :)

I run 45lbs all around on all my tires (Subaru, KIA, Buick) I prefer good milage and handeling over a softer ride. I can tell when any of my tires get below 30lbs; they handel like CRAP on the turns!

Believe it or not, you can really affect the cars handling by the tire pressures, especially the "differential". However, at normal, commute type speeds, there really isn't a sizable difference in handling with chances in the differential pressure, but you will get a change with the absolute pressures. On my RS, I used to run about 38-39psi in the front and 36-37psi in the rear. Of course, different tires behave slightly different with equivalent pressures so you may have to do a little experimenting. I found that a -2psi differential in the rear minimized the understeer, but didn't lead to snap trailing-throttle oversteer. You cannot remove one completely without making a drastic change for the worse on the other.

Bottom line, for anything non-competitive, run about 37-40 in front and ~2psi less in the rear.

Now if anyone wants to talk behavior of modified suspension and race rubber, I have a ton of experience on the RS now...

Also note, I run roughly the same numbers on my stock suspensioned, stock tire STi. They are probably not ideal (especially with all the rear camber the STi has), but I don't run the car competitively anyway.

If you are going to be racing you DO NOT want to max out your tire pressure. As a result from heating up your tires, the pressure will automatically increase. Therefore, if you are maxing psi pre race, you have a chance of damaging your tire mid race.

At to put a more practical twist on it... Running tires at 45psi (especially ones spec'd for 44psi) will very rarely get you better times. When I AutoXed on the Azenis, I ran the same pressures I metntioned before. Granted, you are referring to crap Ecsta tires so a little higher than my #s may help, but at 45psi, you are driving "on marbles". The grip is actually reduced due to "crowning" of the tire (less surface area on the ground).

    My additional $49.95....

okay I did 35,31 and the noise is lesser and the handling is better I think i will run this for a few days and then go a little higher if it does not get quieter
