Hi everyone!! So, I am new here and don't know much about cars. I am planing on getting a subaru in the near future, but first what do I need to know about it first? What should I look for? or would it just depend on what I want in a car? Please leave nice comments/replies down below Thanks a whole bunch!!
Welcome, BBG. Can we call you bluebeastwoman, or BBW for short? For reliability get a NA. For reliability with a little bit of grunt get a NA 3.0 or 3.6. For reliable and fuel efficient get a newer NA cvt. For modifying and draining your wallet, get a turbo. For maximum 35e cred get a modified turbo. Youre welcome a whole bunch, bbw.
Welcome to the forum. Things to look for in Subarus depends largely on what model you plan on getting. idget laid out a pretty good description above, though.
I know enough about subaru's to know that they are not as reliable, nice, or powerful as everyone cracks them up to be, but what I don't know, is why I still buy them. Haha just kidding, well slightly. Subaru's offer a great bargain if you're looking for an AWD sedan or crossover. I've personally owned or worked on every version that idget mentioned, and he hit the nail on the head with his feedback.
Assuming you don't know much at all about Subaru these are things I'd want to know if I were in your position. Subaru makes models of cars with and without turbo chargers. For car enthusiats and people who have small PP's the cars with the turbo are favored. For your average joe cars with the normally aspirated engine are favored as they get better gas mileage, overall less to worry about as far as maintenance and they're less money. I think this is the most important general fact to know about Subarus.
They're usually not super amazing for gas mileage compared to competitors, especially non-awd ones, if that's a big deal for you. But it seems like the latest generations are closing the gap I believe?
So if i want a gas saver, i"ll have to go with a newer NA cvt? Why am i even asking this on here. I should go pick whichever one that looks good and not care about whats inside, its not like i know cars anyways.
Fixed That For You You should definetly not just go anywhere and take a dealers word for anything... Know what you want and don't be talked into anything.
there's a search function on pretty much every forum ever. learn to use it. go to nasioc, google, wikipedia, and do some research. people aren't going to just hand you everything you want to know.

Subarus are the automotive equivalent of barbie dolls. Plastic, relatively inflexible, little girls love them, oh and no genitals.
