I am thinking of selling the evo because its been a pain in my ass and I was looking in to getting a wrx wagon. What should I look for as in what goes wrong with them and what was the best year to get one.

Well, what style do you prefer? bugeyes (02-03), hawkeyes (04-05) 06-07's (06 is a good year btw) or the newer "legacy lite" hatchback style?

02-03 are known to have some issues. Obviously the first your going to come across is mileage. Most, not all, have pretty high mileage. Along with that you need to start considering what has been done maintenance wise of course. Personally: stock clutch went out at over 100k, engine mounts where shot by 110k, my radiator at around 120k, syncros in tranny at 130k, my engine blew at 140k (highly modded). Lol, so I didn't realize how much work I have put into the car! My advice, don't buy a car with 90k and mod it.

huh, no one pointed out that the 09' is the fast WRX to date. So that would be my 1st choice (and was ) It isn't a true wagon, it's a hatch. If you are going wagon I really like the 06 - 07 style.

Yes, I am also partial to the hawkeyes (but I own an 07, so I'm biased) The extra torque of the 2.5 is definitely fun, and far better for daily driving.

If you didn't want a wagon I'd whore mine out to you. lol

Ide say hawkeye just for the 2.5, (that is if you arent going to buy new) The USDM 2.0 IMO is a very fragile engine.

I've owned both '04 and '06 WRX wagons and can tell you hands down that the '06 is waaaaaaaaay better. It really isn't close.

    interior
    projector headlights
    brakes
    abs
    steering rack
    block
    heads (avcs ftw)
    ecu
    fit/finish
    dbw throttle
    injectors
    wheels

All of things are much better on the 06-07 compared to any of the 2.0L cars.

ever think about a legacy wagon. it is a real wagon. get the GT 2.5turbo. the insurance is lower than wrx/ more discreet than wrx.
