hey guys I have a guy who is interested in trading for my vette. He has an 04 STI, its silver and i believe 90K miles. here are his mods: -fresh rebuilt transmission new 6 puck clutch -new cryo treated rotors pads SS brake lines -it has a Slowboy 20g turbo -Cobb shortshifter -access port street maps and 110 map street puts out about 360 to the wheels and race will do about 380 -stock BBS rims as well as a set of enkei nt03+m -nice stereo with amp and sub in the trunk He wants $18k ish for the car as it sits. What would this be worth if i tried to re-sell on todays market? Whats it worth in trade value to you if you were in my shoes. (i am asking 35K for my vette so trade diff is about 17-18) Would really appreciate a response from you guys who are very well informed about these cars. Thanks!!! Aj
If the car is in good shape its probably a little high, but if its clean, take it somewhere and have it inspected, IE a compression test, ect.
If you want to find something comparable to it, check out the cars for sale section in iwsti.com for some national and maybe local prices with mileage/mods. From what I've seen people asking for, mileage puts it in the no more than 17k range regardless of mods/stereo. It would be a good price about a year ago, but they have gone down in price on average a couple thousand during that span. But either way, an inspection is your friend. Good Luck
the rebuilt transmission scares me.....ask why it was rebuilt. I don't think 90k miles is enough to justify a rebuild under normal use.
The 04 STi is most common to have the synchro issue, but if it were torn apart for any other reason, I might stay away. As you probably already know, mods on a car do nothing for the value. I would say it's close to fair market, but that's just from reading the description. If it's all banged up, it wouldn't be worth nearly as much.
18k is a bit high for that 04 STi but since it has some nice mod parts in it so that price is justifiable but the high mileage on that car is what worries me and the rebuild transmission. Check KBB or Edmunds blue book and see where the average price of the 04 STi is around and throw a couple hundred since it has a 20g turbo and other parts that are worth $$ like Cobb Accessport
what the heck is the Cobb accessport anyways? the bigger turbo i remember, so that is nice for sure. i bet this car pulls like a freight train. its silver, with the big wing. he has veteran plates on it... anyone know him? i believe from the rosemount area.
thanks for the answers and opinions guys. This dude with the sti is no where near my asking price so its not even worth my time. appreciate the responses!
No offense but you had one of the best taken care of bug-eyes around ... should've kept it. GL on the next whip.
Aftermarket parts aren't worth more money. It doesn't work that way. You can try to ask for more money for them, but you usually get stonewalled unless the potential buyer is green to buying cars or just stupid. That kind of crap works fine on IWSTI, but those guys are idiots for the most part. I think alot of buyers would pay you 100 bucks to swap everything back to bone stock to be honest.
is his name Peter Johnson? what did he say to you and what ended up happening? I don't think he even paid attention to my price. he wants to spend 3-5K cash and trade his car. my asking price is 35K, dude cannot do math. :ugh: no offense at all. i know that car was awesome! i either had to sell that or my E55 and, well, i prefer the luxury and 385hp over the wrx. But the good thing is my gf's younger bro bought it from me and i gave him a hell of a deal to get started with a sweet ride. i wasn't looking to trade for a sti, the guy just happen to email me about it and i thought it might work out. i already bought another car, just 3 weeks ago, we bought an E63 AMG. I still have the E55 so im trying to get rid of a few cars now.
