I thought it was a cheap way to raise octane? Am I wrong? Just noticed that someone posted a map of ethanol free gas stations, wondering if there is a benefit to this?

Less additives in the gas to burn off. If you look kat the tailpipe of my car, it is a medium grey color not black and sooty like if you were to run the ethanol gas. Also, my car actually idles at 14.7 to 1 now and my afr's seem to be a little easier to control.

ethanol mixtures also break up faster than non oxygenated gasoline.
and if you have pwc/boats/yard toys it eats out the fuel system components.

that list, btw, is really old. some of those places don't exist anymore, and some of them are under new ownership. there's even a list of a store that hasn't carried non-oxygenated gas in the last 10 years! hehe

If you guys want to criticize the list/maps, I encourage you to go ahead and put together a list on your own. I took the addresses from the Minnesota Street Rod Association and some other group that had some details. I guess it's my bad for not going to personally check each and every one of them.

I'd be more than happy to take down the information if people feel it's so inaccurate as to not be helpful.

not criticizing the thread, just saying that it's out-dated. that's all. fuji, where do you know that sells non oxy? that place on rice sells it for double regular $ because it's a full service station.
