hey so i dont know much of anything about wheels and junk. i have an 04 wrx stock brakes i believe. i dont really know what offset the wheels i have are (is it listed on them?) they are 17s i am looking at buying a set of 17 x 7.5 with an offset of 32
Play with this. http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp Those wheels will stick out about an inch and a half more than your stock wheels. On a sedan with narrowish tires and some camber it may be doable, but that is a pretty low offset for a WRX.
so i should pass on trying a 225 45 17 tire on a set of audi 17 x 75 with an offset of 32 (which i would say is a +32)
yes, but also consider the additional wear on your wheel bearings (due to the low offset)...some people run their low offset wheels for tons of miles with no issues, while others experience accelerated wear.
more stress on the wheel bearings...this thread from NASIOC actually has some good info: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450557
While Subarus do seem to have wimpy wheel bearings I would not sweat the offset issue. The difference here is small. Unless you are prepared to roll your fenders and *possibly* do extra work for camber I would pass. If you are willing to do that work you may be able to run these without issue. It's a matter of what you are willing to do/sacrifice to make them fit.
Yea I didn't mean to talk you out of the wheels, just wanted to mention the potential risks. Like I mentioned before, some people have been running low offset wheels for a long time with no issues.
I had to roll my rears with 7.5 wide wheel and a 40 offset. Probably cuz I was squeezing a 245 tire on there too.
How wide and what size tires? This makes a big difference. 245 may indeed have something to do with it. Full roll? What were/are your camber settings and ride height?
Any idea on rim width though?a 7 vs 7.5" wide wheel makes as large of a difference as the offset difference here. He could be looking at 6mm or 12 more with the same tire size and camber settings depending on wheel width. Not trying to be pushy or anything, but that much difference may be the difference between an aggressive roll and needing camber bolts or thinner tires. Since his setup is so borderline I want to get as much relevant info as possible.
