hope this works , getting ready to have my wheels redone , thinking silver , dark metallic grey with high gloss, hyper black (if i can find a powder coat that is close) http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=29428323&postcount=10188 here is a photoshop example of silver/hyper black , and black candy red , kind of sick of it.... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=29428175&postcount=10184
I voted hyper black. I still think that candy red looks awesome. If you really want something different I will swap you my leggy snowflakes even up
hyper black, silver is too boring... and if you do the black I wouldnt feel as bad painting mine the candy red.
that hyperblack/liquid silver is my favorite color now , i dont know if there is a powder coat color to get the look i am after , but i am thinking of maybe painting them like lotus storm titanium....but hope to find the right powder coat , thanks for the input so far
I like the silver but unless you plan on having it plated, you may not be happy with the painted/powdered results. that said... I vote Red!
the closest color that i can come up that looks like i want a pc called black chrome , so if i can find a place who can source it i will have these done like that , or pc chrome with transparent black over the top , or pc chrome with candy red , so i really am down to those 3 colors , now i just need to find out if it can be done , i may have to polish them by hand and then have the pc done , but it just sucks to have a look in mind and not know if i will end up with the results i want ..........maybe i should just get them painted , probably hold up about the same this is what i want.... black chrome..http://www.wheelreplicas.com/ebay/20690651ma.JPG red chrome..http://forum.caswellplating.com/att...estions/192d1141928378-red-candy-chrome-4.jpg
just found some local places that do anodizing , will be contacting them about polishing/anodizing services , probably very $ though
View attachment 20050 View attachment 20051 I have painted wheels before, and IMHO on aluminum wheels, paint dosen't hold up like Powder coat! Paint chipped on the drop of a pebble! YEARS ago I was powder coating guy and we were just starting to see powders that "looked" like chrome and anodizing. I put Looked in quotes because it wasn't quite right but it looked ......close. I'm sure the powders are better now and look like chrome and anodizing. that said, PC manufacturers have come a long way if the photo you posted is powder coat and not dipped....
thanks , i dont know if they where coated or dipped , they are just the closest to hyper black i can come up with , i have found in searching around that there are some pc that put on an extreme chrome , then another layer of a transparent or candy on top , that is what i may end up doing , i plan on having them chem. stripped and i may just try to polish them myself , and "hope" that the transparent p. coat turns out like i want it...i am a little concearned about durability of the wheel after pc
the ones half way down here look pretty good , its called smoked chrome, anyway strip and pc it is .http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=262182&start=550
that smoked chrome looks pretty good! call around to a few powder shops to get pricing. I have seen some shops charge 50 to 75 buck for two motorcycle wheel (blasted and coated) which isn't all that bad! Just make sure you have the tires off the wheels and cleaned so the shop doesn't contaminate there blast media. I would/could dismount your tires for you but seeing that your in Eden Prairie, I'd see what bora28 can do for you.
the tires are off , i have to call around tommorow , i hope to find a place that will do a test sample so i will get what i want
called around and decided to have it done in wi. , $300 for all 4 , sandblast , and pc with a 2 stage chrome/color combo
here is the color i think i will go with , i just need to decide if i want to strip the wheels , and polish them , i think i will get the look i want if i do ........look under the polished album http://images.google.com/imgres?img...ox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&sa=N&um=1
