Yeah, did I miss something? Wheels fell off?

I guess if the camera would have been on the other side, that may have helped. I replayed it to see if the wheels went rolling across the roadway or something...but saw nothing.

Wonder if all the rubbing on the wheel well had something to do with the forces that broke the strut. Really needed to roll that fender, you could see how it was carving a line into the tire.

looks like loose lugs to me... notice the movement of the wheel prior to the wheel coming off.
remember to check the torque on your wheels! :)

Yeah, if you pause it right as it's falling out you can see the whole strut coming out with the wheel so that's totally what it was.

I'm pretty sure I saw the wheel wobbling too. However, the motion of it looks like too much "play" from that triangulation. Probably worked that damn strut into submission. Suck-o.

im sure he didnt just have loose lugs. somthing in the suspension broke. its hard to forget to tighten your lugs. esp when you have an autocross car with wheels and tires like that.

    +1

It was an Aluminum bodied coilover that had fatigued to the point of breaking. it just wasn't up to the task of race tires and continued hard cornering.

Oh yeah- and this is a really old video.
