Hey guys and girls, I need some advice on how to keep your wheels safe! My lug locks just have been stripped pretty bad from those theft who tried to steal my wheels. My car is parked in the garage and only drive it to work once or twice a week. I have an alarm system and the car is sitting pretty low and will have to use low profile jack to jack it up. I heard about the tilt sensor alarm where if your car is tilted a few degree, the alarm will trigger. Im looking to buy that but would also like to see if anyone has any positive feed from those sensor alarm system. My garage door has been jammed too. Damn thefts! I have lug locks and a alarm system. I have a gun too, just in case i caught the theft armed and need to use it for any defence. What do you guys do to keep your wheels/car safe? Tips please? Thanks in advance! Wheels are BBS Rs rep 17x9+30 offset.

You can always buy two different sets of locking lug nuts so your fronts and rears don't match. Then 4 keys would be required to get off all 4 wheels. However, there are ways around this. Also, it would be a PITA when chaning wheels.... but I know people that do this. I figured if yours are stripped you might be replacing them.

You can always insure your wheels. Looking at your picture you might not get much for older wheels (assuming you drive the RS in the picture). Adding wheels to your insurance may only cost a few bucks but will be a safty net for you.

They do make sensor alarms that chirp when you get near them, but they are annoying as hell.

I bought some heptagonal (7-sided) lug nuts on eBay, I'll have to give my impressions after install. I like that they look OEM, but a normal socket won't work...

Odds are the tools they're using are going to make short work of any of the differently splined lugs. Have you considered cameras? What kind of garage are we talking here, single garage or underground parking?

Also, just an FYI. If you go after someone who's trying to steal your stuff from your car in this state it's not self defense so running out there with your gun is what I'd call a "bad idea", no matter how gratifying it might be.

I'll see if i can find a picture but I've seen lug nuts that literally have no flats or ridges to them. they use a high pressure roller wrench to take them on and off.
(these are CNC tool holders but you get the idea)

the wrench you'd use has roller bearings in it with a clutch one way (similar to a bike freewheel)

I have set of 7 sided on my old rs and it fits a 3/8 12 point socket perfectly.
I'm probably gonna be looking for a set of camera on weekend. Will try looking around best buy, Walmart and micro center. Yeah it would be a bad idea running out with a gun lol. My garage is a single garage next to my house.
I sold the rs and now have a 02 aspen white wrx. Will post pictures when I'm done working on it.
I would like to get a laser trip sensor. Where can I find them?
Thanks for the tips! Will keep that in mind!

Interesting! Do you mean 5/8 or 7/8? 3/8 seems way too small. I'll have to check that out...

I would just put a nice little notice on the garage saying: " You've been warned" or something like that. If it happens often enough for you to have to look into different lug nuts, there is a major problem, and next time they come, they could just take the car...
