I'm wondering when ya'll put on your winter tires here in MN. After browsing the threads at NASIOC, I wondered what you guys had to say. Also, the Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi's: Does anyone know where to get these locally? Or do they have to be ordered though tirefactory or eBay?

^you all are going to burn the hell out of your snow tires putting them on this early. I would wait until we get measurable snow. If we get like and inch, dont worry cause it will be gone by the next day.

I wait until overnight temps are consistently below freezing. At those temperatures summer tires are basically like driving on dinner plates.

I was thinking the same thing! We have all wheel drive, so there is an up! i would say when it gets to the point the snow is staying on the ground after a day or two it might be wise! Even Dream here used is STi tires through last winter, i wont say anything else just be more careful until the s-tires are on!

Give yourself more room to stop, and dont floor it off the line!

Usually early/mid November. We always have a couple nice days in November which are warm enough to take the ol' convertible for its final gas-draining drive before topping it off and adding fuel stabilizer... which is also a good time to throw the snow tires on the winter beater and the Suby. (d^mn I have too many cars)

Any snow before then is either just temporary "slush", or an insane sudden snowstorm -- and in the latter case, you should stay home REGARDLESS of which tires your car has, just to avoid all the morons who still have summer tires on AND haven't learned how to drive in snow with them yet.

Good snow tires will keep you out of the ditch, but they won't prevent some idiot from careening through an intersection and T-boning your sweet ride.

i guess the STI and EVO tires are two totally different tires then... in even an inch of snow, my evo would not go anywhere properly, nor would it even stop. it was that bad. i suppose those tires are strictly summer tires being that they're semi-slicks. and honestly, they don't even look aggressive...

No, there basically the same thing...SUMMER ONLY TIRES! I was just to lazy and broke at the time to buy snow tires. I would highly discourage anybody from running summer tires in the winter.

We carry the Nokians, we'll probably be stocking a couple sets here soon for the winter season, otherwise it only takes us a couple days to get them. Just let me know what size you need and which one you want, the Hakka 2 or the RSi.
