For some reason I feel like I've never heard it before until tonight. I don't understand why u wouldn't hear it, but it just sounded loud and unusual. Cripse, I gotta' fix this thing, I'm starting to go crazy.

yeah, my car is too stiff to really shake it. Might you be thinking of the window washer fluid reservoir? or how much gas do you have in the tank?

not side to side. Sit in the seat and rock it front to back. I have about 3/4 tank. Its definitely gas, and ridiculously present. It just seems strange to me since I have never heard that before.

    I doubt it.

I've heard fuel sloshing around before. NBD. Subies have kind of a weird setup with the halfway split tank. The side with the pump is kept even by a "jet pump" as subaru calls it, which uses the siphoning effect of the return to draw fuel to the other side.

I'm a geek, what can I say? I've spent countless hours staring at FSM's to understand exactly what is going on.

is there pressure in the tank though? Would that keep it from being so sloshy?

Even if there was pressure in the tank, it would still slosh. Liquids are not compressible, which really doesn't matter I guess. You have a ton of air pressure on you right now but you're not stuck to the floor...

this is best attempted late at night, possibly the wee hours of the morning, in the far corner of a park parking lot. You'll need the help of a signifcant other... or maybe a new friend you just met! Everyone give this a try and post up their results ASAP, we've got to help this fella out!

When you have as many squeaks, rattles, bangs, clunks and sloshes as I do, you just get kinda numb to it. Maybe not numb, but you know what everything is and just ignore it.

    HAHAHAHAHAH!
why is would this matter at all?! hahaha i know the noise you are talking about. it used to happen if i stopped quickley with a less than full fuel tank, and turned off the car asap. i could hear the fuel "slosh" back and forth. but i think its funny because idk why you would be sitting in the back seat rocking it back and forth.......... ;) haha

is it distracting you from other things you might be doing in the back seat?

    seriously! best thread ev3R!

I wasn't in the back seat. I'm just hearing things now and everything is suspect since the car isn't running right. I need to get my fuel problem fixed before I take a bat to this car.
