where oh where is the knock sensor

where can i find the knock sensor, i have to replace it. someone tell me. i just bought my subie 3 weeks ago.

 

It's under the IC if it's for a WRX.

I have an extra one for a WRX if you want one. Let me know.

ok does your check light turn on if it does..?.... save money you can buy a rubber washer and put it on the bottem of the sensor then if sould turn off...its ok it happen to me too.....

 

lol, that excatly what i was thinking.

A knock sensor is just a tiny microphone tuned to pick up the pinging noise. In some not common occasions it can mistake other noises for knock, but that doesn't happen much. insulating it on a ruber gasket will just make it not able to hear knocking when it occurs by isolating it from the vibation of the engine.

 

iirc the thing is easy to overtighten and destroy.
save a little headache and make sure you do it correctly.

 

knock sensors issues are common.....its better to replace it then to try and mod your way around it.

 

its a 1997 2.2 impreza. i still cant find it.

 

if you look at the top of your motor its a little to the right and UNDER the throttle body, its basicly a bolt with wires going to it, its bolted to the block.
