I feel like the only person on the planet who's ever seen these before. Everybody I've talked to has never seen nor heard of them. Out of everyone, only the guy at Fastenal even understood what I meant when I described it.

Flag cable ties. I've found a couple places online to order them from, but I want to know where they can be bought locally.

    Anyone know?

They look like this (I want the flag-over-box type, the first photo):

Sometimes you can find them at electronics supply stores...not BestBuy, I mean component level stores. Not sure of any in the area, as I haven't really gone shopping for stuff like that in ages. But you may want to find some sort of electronics supply store online.

I'm not aware of any, either - and I've been sort of looking here and there for at least a year.

None of the Axman had any, but I've had issues with their cable ties being brittle in the past anyway.

    A particular one?

I've been to the one off 100 & 394, the one off Lyndale & American Blvd., and to one out in Mtka somewhere (don't remember exactly where), and none of them had them.

For when I pull my wiring harnesses I can put one on each connector and label it - B55 - or whatever. ;)

I just forgot to get off my ass and order them, and now there's work to do, so I'd like to find a place to pick up a bag locally and get to work.

Negative. Normal cable ties galore, but none with flags.

I had to go to Home Depot anyway, so no loss.

Not cable ties, but cable labels. these have a white part that you write the label on, then a clear part that gets wrapped around it that protects the wiring. Won't really work on large assemblies though.

    Just another option.

I'll probably need to do something like this soon too, and while masking tape and a sharpie work, something a little more durable might be invaluable, especially if stuff isn't getting reinstalled immediately. So if you find a good source, let me know.

    I'll look into that.

Interesting .... but, my whole theme is making it exceptionally easy to label things even when covered in automotive fluids with gloves on, etc.

I looked in a dozen different stores before I finally found Hefty bags that had the zipper to close (no futzy pinching the bag closed) and had the white label (so the marker doesn't smear). I had to open boxes of baggies to see if they were right or not lol.... Yeah, it's a little obsessive.

I'll just have to wait a few days for them. I ordered 5 packs from http://www.computercablestore.com/Identification_Zip_Ties_catID1975.aspx (thanks readymix!).

The website was easy to get through and had plenty of shipping options. USPS Priority will have them to me Wednesday at the latest, and I'll just keep plenty on hand from now on.
